Has anyone produced a Schnabel car with a generator load in N scale? I have the Overland N scale WECX 202 with a transformer load. But coming from a Westinghouse family, my quest has been to find a N scale Schnabel car with the generator load. By the way, here is a photograph of the real McCoy from the late 1960s or early 1970s at the East Pittsburgh Works of Westinghouse Electric. Thanks, Dave
If you can get plans for one possibly someone with a 3D printer could make it. Welcome to Trainboard.
Or, you could abstract one and make it a 2040 version. I have a mess of freight trucks I intend to use to make 16 axil flat cars. I'll cut 'loads' out of foam.
There is a MicroAce listed on ebay right now but it appears to have a transformer load as well. As I recall trix had two variations but neither were a generator load. Nice thing with the overland model is that it has operating latches so the load can be removed. At that point it's just a matter of designing and printing a load to swap out rather than getting a whole new schnabel car.
Overland Models made one, with transformer load. I’ve got one in my collection. Car is about 11 1/4 inches long, and weights around a half pound!!
That's the only rolling stock I've ever seen that had more axles than a Cheese coal fired steam turbine.
Ah, dear Autocorrect. I don't know why I didn't see that. I plead the lateness of the hour and haste to retire for the night.
Half a pound? Too bad we can't get N-Scale locomotives in that weight range. But then the motors probably wouldn't be able to move them so there's that.
You want Cotton Brute. It weighed 24 oz! https://www.trainboard.com/highball/index.php?threads/n-scale-records.5676/
More on mine: Length, compared with tape meqasure. Weight, as seen on digital scale: I stand corrected on what I thought total weight was! Still pretty darn close to total length of 11 1/4 inches! And yes, it still requires at least 2 locomotives to pull this car!! Have DRGW and CNW heritage units leading mine, with a couple of spacer cars!
