Was quaffing an adult beverage at my favorite track side watering hole with an outdoor patio in Bellaire, Texas this evening when a CPKC tank train pulled by a KCS de Mexico locomotive came by. The tail end DPU was just your average CP engine. I was waiting on AMTRAK but it never showed before the mosquitos ran me off.
From my black and white film days at Galesburg, IL on 10/10/1976. Love the PC run through power with a GP-30 adding muscle.
Nice!!! Every time I see some 50s-70s Santa Fe it makes me think of my late Dad... I noticed the turnout on the left has a lift frog! It also has some curved track that looks more like angles... especially obvious is the section going off to the left. Or the left hand track going straight through!
Got the CN “Wafer” unit second out on the deadhead return trip of the CN OCS in Earlville, IA and the five cars associated with the train. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Even if I'm biased for CN, this is a really good looking CN train, with the heritage "tilted wafer" logo on 3309, the classy color scheme on the passenger cars, and bringing up the rear, on the Fraser Spirit, another heritage logo in the form of the Maple Leaf herald! That's one great catch, Buddy!
Oh, boy oh boy oh boy! I get to wait at the crossing and watch a train go by. Note the drive by garbage bin for the train crews to deposit their trash.
That is pretty neat in more ways than one. Do you have any closer views of the garbage bin (serious). Last night I was watching some old film of trains on youtube and the yards and regional stations were strewn with paper and trash. The photo you've shown is nice and tidy.
Sorry, no. I will have to go inspect it up close and get some photos next time that I go to the Armadillo Ranch.
A Houston & Texas Central caboose in about 1895. The H&TC was eventually absorbed into the Southern Pacific system.
Caught NS's Office Car Special (Train 955) this afternoon at Blythewood, SC en route to the Master's Tournament in Augusta, GA. The nineteen car train originated in Altoona yesterday morning. Those freshly painted units look great. Most of the Class Is bring trains to the event.
WOW!!! Big and bright heritage doubleheader with a nice and classy passenger consist!!! Fantastic catch!
