For this weekend I thought I would drag out this old photo of a kit bashed Santa Fe superintendent's car along with the prototype that I was attempting to copy.

By golly, Russ ... nice job! I can't remember ever seeing trucks like that unit has. I learn something new once in awhile. :)

Yeah, but the ones on the model are rather wimpy compared to the husky numbers on the prototype. Same with the other under-body appliances. Should have beefed them up a bit more.

Not sure I ever posted this one:

Wife gave birth to twin boys a couple weeks back, so modeling is pushed to the back burner....

Finally got some more cars done this week.

Eastern Car Works 2600CF Airslide Covered Hopper Kit, Added airline under side of car and lines from the Air Reservoir to the Triple Valve. Substituted A-Line Sill Steps for the Cast ones. Painted White and lettered with Herald King Decals.

Intermountain Railway Company 60' PS Fisher Body Car, Painted Black and ATSF Red and lettered with Oddballs Decals.

Athearn 86' Hi-Cube Boxcar, removed cast grabs and replaced with ladders to more replicate a Thrall Car. The AA had purchased cars from the GB&W that were manufactured by both Greenville and Thrall and were used from Ford via Ferry Service across Lake Michigan to the Ford Plant in Minneapolis. Per photographs had to cut the letters and apply individually so they would be in the proper place on the side of the car versus the diagram included with the Herald King decals. Added Details West Extended coupler pockets and A-Line Sill Steps.

    Thanks for looking.

Congratulations to you, your wife, and the boys. I hope all are doing well. Though I doubt if your wife and you are getting much sleep...best to you all!

Candy, as always, you have created a remarkably accurate scene, at least from what I can remember of 50 years ago. Do you have any plans to step back and photograph the entire panorama, so we can get a sense of how everything is fitting together?

BTW, your Alchemy may not be able convert anything into Gold as the Renaissance Alchemists desired, but I'm sure that it produces some interesting results. :tb-tongue:

I have to agree, i've wanted to see a wide shot of the Candy layout too. Your humor cracks me up BTW. Love the signs and other details on your layout.

I found this sign online a long time ago but it's gone now. I kept it till I had the right spot for it. Everyone seems to like it. It is unusual. Now I just have to build that night club.
