There's also a batch of 25 CP SD40-2Fs, of which 15 are still active on their roster. These were the last SD40-2 series engines built, and the only ones with full cowl and Draper Taper.
I remember when there used to be chatter about the Draper Taper units amongst the foam community. It's been a long time since I've last even heard them mentioned. Maybe something else has taken their place for interest?
I saw a CN "Draper Taper" C40-8, embedded within a SD70M and a narrow hood C44-9W in Dorval (close to Montreal YUL airport) 2 years ago. Dom
5531 looks somewhat neglected... but then 5516 hasn't seen the dirt rearranger... err... loco wash... for a while either:
More Draper Tapers: 3 Dash 8-40CMs for Quebec, North Shore and Labrador, and an order of 20 MLW/Bombardier HR616s for CN. QNSL sold off their Dash 8s, and CN didn't like the HR616s and canceled an order for more. All have been retired or sold.
I think I've posted these on this forum before but ... here goes. ... Akirasho, those are outstanding! Thanks for posting.
By the look of that exhaust, they were pulling fairly hard. Must have thundered a bit on the way past....
You have a good eye BoxcabE50 -- he was indeed pulling hard upgrade and had a long train for only two units. This train often merits three. I need to research those signals. Not sure why there's a single light below the three color signal.
Went out today to get some more shots of the Blue Ridge Southern in western North Carolina (USA) and returned with these:
Thanks guys -- yep, I did quite a bit of hiking and some running too ...... well running as much as a fellow in his late '50s can do. <g> The line is curvy and heavily forested, so it's hard to get the open vista shots I prefer. I missed a nice open scene adjacent to a cornfield that I may try for again someday. BLU uses so much power that it's hard to get freight cars in photos! <g> That's the French Broad River and the line is the Asheville, NC <=> Knoxville, TN mainline that BLU uses to access the Asheville yard. I'd hoped to get some colorful kayaks in the river, but no such luck this time.
So that's why I always end up with head on shots when I am out East. But then again I still get a lot of head on shots out West.
I like head shots too. Sometimes that's all there is and I am grateful for what is available. Interesting the NS picture depicts a permissive signal at what appears to be a switch. I would have thought this situation would need an absolute signal.
Nice^^^^. I like that the Texas State Railroad repainted all their locomotives back to a prototype scheme. Although the old TSR scheme was nice, it just did not seem to portray a sense of history. Same locomotive as above.
