Can anyone here give me a link to detailed instructions on how to add MTH Locomotives to a roster and change the short address to a long address in Decoder Pro through JMRI? Somehow I lucked into it with one unit (adding to the roster, not changing the address), but no luck with the second one. I am aware that you have to program on the main, but there must be a setting I am missing somewhere to make it happen. Look forward to your responses and Happy New Year!

Is it the old Protosound 3, or the Protosound 3 Enhanced? The former won't usually play well at all, the latter generally will. If you put the engine on the programing track, and it says "loco not detected", it's probably one of the older ones.
To enable the long address in DCC, all you have to do is select the engine, and set cv29 to 38. That will automatically change the address to the long address on the cab.
