I know someone who is looking at starting a laser cut building business...what types of buildings would you want?

Personally, I want large, long freight houses and warehouses, something that would justify boxcars.

How about some sears kit houses? They are out there in HO but no one that I can find is making them in N scale any longer.

I would love to see older stations/depots. Especially some laser engraved fronts for those edifices! It is difficult, of course, to do full scale-sized structures, but some of them are worth it, in N. May not be able to model the depth of the structures.

How about row house kits? With good details on fronts and backs; and not all individual units the same. Some upscale, but others for those urban tracks, where the backs are up against them.

Of course, the real problem is the cost of them. The time doing the CAD work, and the cutting time... and, would I ever actually purchase them.

I have also wondered about some of these laser houses actually selling / licensing the CAD files, as more and more folks are investing in cutters. Maybe make the plans available at a lower cost and still offer quality kits for those who don't/can't invest in a laser.

I would second the large warehouses and industrial structures. Or perhaps better wall panels and components for constructing them modularly

Ahhh... I had not realized that there were so many. Thanks for the tip.

That is a good idea Rick that I will explore too. One of the additional factors is the mailing cost - especially shipping from 'over the pond'.

Santa Fe Stucco depots & Freight houses. For my own modeling I need to replicate: Vaughn, Mountainair, Ft. Sumner and all points in between. I also need SP depots like Carrizozo, Vaughn, Torrance, Santa Rosa, Corona, Duran etc.

You know what I am going to say, but I will anyhow. MILW standard style depots. Big enough railroad. A small one for any start would be their Class "C" telegraph office. A mere 9'6" BY 10' 4". Ha ha. On up to wooden two story versions with attached freight house in total overall lengths in the 100 foot range.
