I've made a couple of these really odd Milw. wood cabooses. some have described them a Odd and even Ugly. They were made in the late 20's from wood boxcars and the roof was not high enough for a standard cupola. The Milw. shops built cupolas 1'9" higher for better vision giving the caboose the odd "TALL" look. Crews loved the because at 33' the were very spacious. Most lasted into the late 50's in transfer sevice. Odd...Yes, UGLY...NO!!!!!
Well, ugly is a matter of opinion. It's a neat repurposing for sure, and reminiscent of some of the European equipment I recall seeing (although I believe that was purpose-built as dual function)
I have seen many pictures of these. They do look "different" from the more common lower cupolas. But they sure speak of their owning company.
Couldn't find it at first. Suggest you spell out "Milwaukee" and not abbreviate it in the title. Jason
