I'm trying to wire up I'm thinking 603 leds for headlights. These leds came from China and had a resistor already attached but burnt out after turning on function 0. I am using Loksound Select Micro and am trying to find out what kind of resistors I need to use. Smaller size would be nice but I know nothing about them. Like, nothing at all.
There are a number of nice, lengthy explanations on the web, honed and improved over the years. Google is your friend. Other recommendation, be sure to use a LED resistor "calculator" that also checks wattage needed. Greg
I use 1/4 watt resistors on my led lights. You can get assortment packs of 100's of resistors for a few bucks on eBay. I've used 1K to 10k resistors on LEDs in my locos, but you'll want to use an online resistor calculator. A trick I started to use is to solder up some variable resistor tester. I adjust them until I'm happy with the brightness, check the resistance, and then use a fixed resistor. Here's a few links, but they are all over Amazon and eBay. I think I have literally 1000's of resistors and LED's around the house with about $20 total investment. Thank you for all of your help. I've ordered some 1k and 2k resistors and will mess around with them once they arrive.
