I am curious as to what it is exactly. It's pretty short for passenger service. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Ah. OK. I've seen this car photo'd and referenced in the past, but cannot think of it's history right now.
Ai know it's not technically Lines West, but... Rapid City, SD: I'm going to assume this is a MILW depot as well. It was right next to the freight house.
Yes. MILW depot. Has also been a beauty salon and...? There is/was another depot or two in town. C&NW family, plus one of a smaller local operation. The latter brick, and was frequently mistaken as being MILW.
Out and about to photograph boats a few weeks ago on Puget Sound, and I stumbled across this little gem being used for storage on a pier in Anacortes. Ironic, since Anacortes is about as far away from any old Milwaukee Road tracks as you could get while staying on the east side of the Sound.
The one on TV was probably the crab boat of the same name out of Astoria. This particular one was built in Mexico, and can get away with Tuna fishing on the high seas, but wouldn't be able to participate in Alaska fisheries due to the Jones Act.
I find it to be quite fascinating that because it was built in Mexico, it cannot work in our own waters. Our country is overrun with foreign built road wheeled vehicles in commercial use. Not to mention on rails and in the air. Seems as though that "law" is somehow out of place in today's world.
