I'm looking at the documentation for the new ESU sound version of the Walthers Mainline SD50. The horn and bell options seem to reflect contemporary SD70ACe or ES44AC options. The doc itself doesn't say which engine type is covered in the sound file. The SD50 had a 645 engine, while SD70s have a 710 engine. Does anyone know if the ESU sound file in the Walthers Mainline SD50 has 645 engine sounds?
Since these are the “dumbed down” Essential Sound Unit decoders, and not a true LokSound, it is difficult to know, for certain. One way would be to post a video of it starting up, the engines are fairly distinctive.
Yeah, that’s a 645. If you go to the ESU website, and listen to the sound demos, you can clearly hear the difference SD50 EMD 16-645 http://projects.esu.eu/projectoverviews/search?cat=18&q=Sd50 SD70ACe EMD 16-710 http://projects.esu.eu/projectoverviews/search?cat=18&q=SD70ACE+
Thanks, that's very helpful. Kinda wish they had 3-chime Leslie and Nathan horns, but for the price, I won't complain too hard.
