Besides these absurd auctions, it seems like prices for just about everything MRR has gone thru the roof there (well, the stuff I'm looking at anyway). Why is it that the same, pre-owned locos that I could've gotten for maybe 35 or 40 bucks only a couple years ago go for upwards towards $100 and sometimes well over now? I guess if someone's paying...
For something that is "Unopened" the top of the jewel case is on upside down. I can think of many other places to put $300 in train money starting with Not that $10 car.
Bout the only thing that guy seems to have priced correctly is the Raggedy Anne doll. I'm not really big into them but I had a friend that collected dolls and would pay quite a bit for vintage dolls.
I paid $80.00 for AB set of LIfelike Milwaukee Erie built locomotives, try getting one now for under $ 150.00. The stuff is only worth what someone will pay for it.
Also, the seller location is listed as Mobile AL, but the prices of his or her auctions are in Canadian Dollars. That just seems like a red flag.
The link was from eBay.ca not EBay.com so it will show Canadian dollars, but if you look it up on the US site it’s in USD.
This is the cheapest I've seen for a ATLAS Locomotive https://www.ebay.com/itm/Atlas-4953...Box/333631063856?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144 . Tom
This is a welcome change from the inflated pricing we so often see. Most all of this Seller's offerings are set out at sensible prices and it's nice stuff. Wow, a Seller who actually wants to sell things.
Here is one similar for far less but still a ridiculous price: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/3103-ATLAS-N-SCALE-FRISCO-AUTO-TRANSPORT/373005495874?_trkparms=aid=1110001&algo=SPLICE.SIM&ao=1&asc=20131231084308&meid=6cf5881c704140a98e60b4bdb0c438e6&pid=100010&rk=1&rkt=12&sd=353074449418&itm=373005495874&pmt=0&noa=1&pg=2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109 Here is something a bit more reasonable, although I would not pay even that price for it. It is not an Atlas, but does not look much different from the Atlas. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vintage-MIN...a=1&pg=2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109
It probably doesn't matter as the feeding frenzy will boost the price back up to what the market can bear - which is pricey at the moment!
You should see some of the prices on the newer Bachmann cabooses. The fact that Bachmann is out of stock, and nearly every one else is to, is driving it especially with the all wheel pickup and DCC ready ones. A few folks are even trying to sell the non pickup older cabooses at those prices.
