Looking for sound decoders for a Lifelike (Walthers) Y3b 2-8-8-2 and a Bachmann EM1 2-8-8-4. The Y3b is DCC ready and will be a new install while the EM1 will be a replacement for the Bachmann decoder. Any advice will be appreciated.
ESU LokSound 5 DCC micro. In both cases, replace the stock speaker with a 13x18mm or 11x15 mm "cell phone" flat speaker in an enclosure that is at least 9mm deep, not including the bottom. For my EM-1, I used the ESU's Big Boy sound file, selecting a different whistle than the UP steamboat. File #S0516. For the Y3b, I'd use the MILW 261 sound file because it includes the N&W "Hooter" whistle. Sound file S0792. You'll have to enable the articulated chuff sound. See instructions for how to do that on the ESU web site by clicking on the #261 sound file, then clicking on "more" at the end of the desciription, here: http://projects.esu.eu/projectoverviews/18?page=2&count=10&order=date&type=steam&cat=18 John C.
