Wife and I will be in Berlin, in May. There are so many listed and many have simple storefront images and couple of inventory pix. Can we narrow it down to: glass cases with locos and wagons, interesting collections, maybe a small nice layout and such? The last time I was there (2005), there was a large automated layout that I later learned that it close, assumedly from Miniatur Wunderland. Jeff & Mickie
Hi Jeff, the layout has moved out, I will have a look at the shops later. See you in May Greetings Mattias
I found 17 shops, many just small shops, minimal glass displays and low quality pictures. Have them all Saved for now. I'm sure there is a couple of really nice ones too.
I recommend "Turberg" Modelrailroad shop, Lietzenburger Straße 51, Berlin! Not cheap, but a lot of model railroads of all scales. They have an extra shop for modelcars and airplanes next to eachother. Only 450 Meters apart is "Micha´s Bahnhof", Nürnberger Straße 24a, Berlin. Spezialized in trading used items. Interesting to see! Both shops are in the center of (west-) Berlin, very close to "Kurfürstendamm" and the big " Kaufhaus des Westens (KaDeWe)". If your female partners are with you, send them to KaDeWe and visit the "Technik Museum", Trebbiner Straße 9, It is located in the old roundhouses of the former "Anhalter Bahnhof". A lot to see for railroad fans! There is a exact layout of the whole stubb end Station, the fright yard and the locomotive facilities. A local railroad club is working on it, but I´m afraid, that Corona might have canceled any operation on it. Enjoy! TexRail
