Well, I have to say those boards are PERFECT! What you get is : A. The opportunity to install a A+ decoder B. The chance to easily install extra leds (with no resistor) C. A clean and bullet proof solution I only wish similar options would be available for Kato, Atlas and other brands. But now ESU arrives with sound only "US Decoders" Envoyé de mon SM-G970F en utilisant Tapatalk
Just asking @RBrodzinsky have you tried putting one of the WVD in an E-8/9 or a PA? I also have two LokSound 4 Direct soundboards with the Next 18 adapter. Would anyone know if these would work? Perhaps @skent See attached picture .
There is insufficient room for the decoder above the WMD board in those locos. The top of the chassis is just too close to the inside of the shell’s roof.
Just found out from Briyaqnn at SBC that as long as it has the Next 18 NMRA interface it's backwards compatible. So version 4 will work like a charm... made out like a bandit! More details here - http://www.sbs4dcc.com/tutorialstipstricks/dccelectricalinterfaceconnectors.html
Yes, the LS4 decoders will work just fine with the board, but you will need to move carefully. The LS4 Next 18 Micro is a longer decoder than the LS5 Next18 Micro, so fit within the loco may or may not clear individual frame and shell details. As we all know, in N scale, a few millimeters can be huge! Looking forward to hear where and if you find they can fit.
Good point, the LS4 are about 1/4 inch longer. That may present a problem no worries I can use them elsewhere if it becomes an issue!
