Moose has a Tomix track cleaning car ... Version 6422, whatever that means... Does anyone have English instructions for how to use this car's attachments? Can anyone suggest why the motor heats up when even briefly having the motor run? A DCC decoder was installed in it years ago. Moose assumes it worked okay afterwards ... But Moose's memory is like a steel sieve, sooo.... When Moose fires it up, the motor becomes hot. The sucker doesn't seem to suck ... And that sucks...
Have you tried going to YouTube and looking up “reviews for Tomix track cleaning car?” When I was looking for a track cleaning car, I did that and remember someone that went through everything that it was capable of doing and how to use all it’s features . I don’t recall if they found English instructions, but it might be helpful. I really thought hard about getting one of those, they looked like they worked well but in the end I went with a Centerline. Ralph
@Martin Station Do'h! Thank you, Martin. Moose hadn't thought of that. Was so focused on a translation of the instructions that come with it that didn't consider it. Will look for one today...
Or just take a $5,000 class to learn the language in about a 4 year span Sorry, apparently in a Smart A.. mood this morning
Searching ya'boob and the interwebby thing has returned, well, not much. Did you know, that this track cleaner has been sold by Tomix, Gaugemaster, Atlas, and Dapol, and in N, HO/OO and possibly O scales/gauges? The closest English translation that Moose has yet to find is an HO/OO Dapol instruction sheet (attached herein). It's somewhat lacking, and certainly doesn't explain the issues that this moose is having with the cleaner... So far, ya'boob videos don't seem to help either. 12-18 minute long videos of someone with less brains than god gave a head of cabbage don't go far with this moose ... Okay, that's a bit harsh, but Moose is frustrated... Was hoping that someone had a full translation of the Japanese instruction sheet. Here's a really low resolution screenshot of what has found so far...
Do remember finding a discussion regarding someone installing the decoder wrong and the malfunction sounds similar to yours.
Moose, I just Googled these, instructionshttp://download.atlasrr.com/pdf/PartsPDFs/NTrackCleaner.pdf and if the atlas car is the same as the Tomix car this should do it for you! I just typed , instructions atlas n scale track cleaning car and this popped up. And two PDF pages in English!! Ralph Edit; I tried looking on nthe Atlas website and I could not find it, but using the information above I did get the 2 page PDF for the Atlas N scale track cleaning car with all the information that I think you are looking for.
This may or may not help. My DCC install. http://u18b.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/Tomix-clean-car.pdf
@u18b Thank you. Moose installed DCC decoder a few years ago, but will look through this to see if maybe there is something a miss with Moose installation.
