Finally! Well, it took awhile. All to often the things we love most take to long to be recognized. It's here. Model Railroader, the March issue. They published an article on John Acosta's aka Acostii, The Gulf & Pacific Railroad. You'll find it in the March Issue of Model Railroader. The Bear Valley Model Railroaders, a group of fellow hobbyist spent almost every Thursday evening at the invitation of John, operating his railroad. Nothing but hours of fun, work, and realistic operations. The Runners here may not like it but the operators in us, loved it. Check it out. I think you'll like the presentation. Thanks to John for sharing it with us. Thanks to Model Railroader for getting the lead out and getting it published. Finally !!
Oop's. I'm a N gauge'r with box loads of old HO stuff. Does that count for N gauge? Feel free to re-post if ye be inclined to.
And part of the layout (Baumgardner Hills) was in N scale for "forced perspective". Does that count for N scale? lol Thanks for the kind words, Rick. My videos can be seen on YouTube under "jostaiii". Here are some pictures of the Bear Valley Model Railroaders: John
The switching puzzles on John's layout are amazing. Take time to look at the map of the layout in the March Issue of Model Railroader. This makes operations extremely interesting. Remember if you have a run around you can spot a car anywhere you need to. Looks like I blundered. You can find John on You Tube under "jostaiii". He might still have two videos of my Mail Trains on the H&P. Both layouts are under going reconstruction after moving from Big Bear Country. We had a good group of guys in the BVMR's. Although we've all seemingly scattered and went our separate ways. Those of us who remain look back on the time we spent with John, as the best times ever. Thanks John !!!
Thanks for the kind words, Rick. Yes, I did open up a couple of videos of the N-scale Howland & Pacific on my YouTube channel, of Rick's layout in Big Bear. John
