All, Anyone know what happened to MINITRIX as a company , I remember that they once produced N-SCALE locomotives? Tom
They are still around but primarily HO and focused on Bavarian/German prototypes any more. They still produce some N scale. TRIX just calls N Scale MINITRIX. https://www.trix.de/en/products/details/article/16184?cHash=f6986eb42bd8e2df049ab6b4d7309eb4 https://www.trix.de/en/products/minitrix/locomotives
Here's a neat article by David K. Smith about Aurora Postage Stamp Trains which were Minitrix. Minitrix freight cars were made by RoCo but the locomotives, track, electrical controls, etc. were manufactured by Trix. http://davidksmith.com/postage-stamp-trains/chapter-1.htm Doug
Minitrix is N scale and Trix is HO, still around and yes they are part of Marklin. Trix did recently come out with a Big Boy not too long ago but as far as N scale I haven't seen any North American offerings since I started collecting their stuff in the early 2000s. They are definitely still producing locos in N but as mentioned previously it's all Euro-centric. Side note: Roco is now joined up with Fleischmann which the latter is a direct competitor to minitrix for Euro stuff. There could still be some collaboration though.
I still have my Minitrix F9 (sold as Aurora Postage Stamp) which I purchased around 1971. It could crawl at an impressively low speed compared to all the other N scale locos I had of similar vintage.
