They are independent to from each other in their power pickup. May have to purchase another Rokuhan and power up the Cow from a dummy unit, to a power unit. They are so tricky to make them work well!

Good looking Chessie set Walt! Yes I did follow the instructions to a tee. The problem is with the Rokuhan gear box on this particular model. My next project will be a H10-44 that I will turn into a Santa Fe switcher. From now on I will test the Rokuhan shorty to make sure it runs great, before I dismantle it and place it in the new brass chassis!
Nice!!! Love the cars, as those are excellent in regards to detail, BUT the transformers really caught my eye seeing as I am “utilities” focused as of late.
Cool cars! Did you did any special treatment on them before painting ? Because Shapeways models are always full of either yellow wax or oily stuff on them.
These came shipped very clean, and are made the new "Tan Fine Detail Plastic" resin. It is more fragile than the clear FUD was, but better detail and smoother finish, and it cleans up easier. I just primed everything with Tamiya Fine Gray Primer. I painted them with cheap craft actylic tole paints like Apple Barrel, and the car was sprayed with automotive clear coat.

I spotted some 3D printed Z scale KEI pick-up trucks on UK ebay the other day made by a vendor called Spinneyworld Looked O.k and ordered three for £6.99. For those of you who don't know (and it was news to me) KEI trucks are the class of vehicles made to fit the Light Vehicle class on Japanese roads. Examples are the Honda Acty, Daihatsu Hijet, Suzuki Carry and Mazda Scrum plus others. In the U.K the Suzuki was rebadged as a Bedford Rascal and was much used by Autoparts wholesalers as delivery vans (And , In Derbyshire, became notorius for the number that used to flip over into ditches when the drivers were in too much of a hurry!) They are quite nice but the layer lines on the windshield were not noticeable until I applied the lacquer. Need to do a bit of fettling next week Anyway, I gave him some good feedback and told him they would be on Hakuho at this weekends big, Manchester Christmas model railway exhibition and guess what? He lives in Manchester! So He is coming to see me. I've asked him if he fancies doing the minivan version as well. In the background of the top picture are two Renault 4CVs. Some guy has a Suzuki Carry van project for sale and I thought, Hmmm, Might be a handy vehicle for taking the smaller layouts to shows. The 'project' was to fit a Hayabusa engine into one and it is half complete. The original engine was ripping the road up with 77 Horsepower and the Hayabusa is 1300 CC and knocks out 173 HP. Rather more ponies than I would need to transport a layout! I updated my insurance database yesterday for all my Z scale road vehicles, to realistically reflect how much they would cost to replace if something horrible happened. Showcase miniatures, Randy Brown Phalen, Csikape,Ex Libris, A2 modell, Z-panzer etc. The list went on and on and like all my insurance lists this was done on an an Excel spreadsheet, Total? £2,224. I'm not a great great fan of Japanese vehicles but I recall have done a Suzuki Samurai some years ago in 1:220. I did some resin copies and started painting them but never finished. Joao
I need a Z-scale Suzuki jimny Joao, as the market for 1:1 scale is quite limited I guess it will be even less in Z scale.
Been working on another diesel locomotive. Finished painting, decaling, and weathering a H12-44 Santa Fe locomotive. Next couple of days will be converting a Rokuhan mechanism into a brass frame for the engine. Starting to get back into the hobby after the holidays!
