I'm not sure. That was the day that I rode private car LV 353 from Newark to Bay Head and back. I remember the trip, but not much about the wait at Newark.
I got to visit LV 353 at Liberty State Park when the AARPCO had their convention there one year. I never got a ride in it. It's one of my favorite private cars.
ASTA in Cedar Park, Texas is building a power car to provide Head End Power for their tourist train. A big honking diesel generator in a former Santa Fe baggage car. They were working on the fuel system when I last checked out the car. They were running the diesel using a 5 gallon Jerry Can. This is a shot from inside the car. You can see the fuel can with a funnel sticking out the top. Every thing is working fine and they hooked it up to the train for a few hours with no issues other than having to refill the tiny fuel tank constantly by pouring more diesel fuel in the funnel. This is a more elegant solution than the generator on a flat car that they have been using.

Elegant? I suppose then that putting a larger fuel tank somewhere inside would be tantamount to putting a top hat, tails and a bow tie on it...
Yeah, once the "high capacity" fuel tank is hooked up, a nice Budd built baggage car at the head end of the train, blends in a little better. I thought I took a photo of the outside of the car. It does have sort of a top hat, it has a little clerestory or cupola on top to hide the exhaust muffler.

Caught yesterday's NS 15R at Ridgeway, SC headed by the NS Heritage Unit, BNSF 7865 and NS 9774. A colorful consist on an overcast gray day.
From October 1980 at Bethlehem, PA on the former LV mainline, TOFC is on the move. This shot was taken about two miles from where the 30th National N Scale Convention will be held this June.
