It will be a busy weekend for sports. My son has an indoor soccer game Saturday morning. My daughter has softball tryouts indoors on Saturday. I am there most of the Saturday and Sunday too since I am managing a team in the 9 and 10 year old girls division. My daughter also has a basketball game on Sunday. We will also be working on finishing my son’s pinewood derby car. If I ever make it to the basement I would like to continue on the F&C coal car. I also have eight two-bay hoppers and three gondolas to weather. Then there is laying track over the newly installed track bed, continue laying track bed and maybe start ballasting the newly laid track.
Well tonight and most of the day Saturday I will be at my RC clubs swap and sale to sell off excess airplane kits. I'm hoping to work on my N scale B&M GP9 Bicentennial unit. I have the grab irons done, still have many details to add, I may even do a SW9 in B&M Bicentennial paint!
Will be taking care of my mother who is finaly home from hospital / rehab. Maybe I'll get a chance to open the paint that BNSF7173 sent me. This time I'll use a plastic knife. If i do I'll try to paint that caboose.
going to model train exhibition at Forrestville (Sydney). just bought a train in from Macarthur in Sydney's south. offered some of the Sydney trainboard members a ride in the cab, but alas at 0001 when we pulled out of Macarthur no one was there..... don't blame them if I had a choice I wouldn't have been there either.
Completing the riverport is top on my list. Plan on installing the retaining wall, smoothing out the riverbed, painting the riverbed, and painting/weathering the pier. Hopefully, everything but the water will get done. I might even make a small tool/model carrying case for taking freight cars to work so I can do coupler conversions during lunch. And my coworkers think I'm anti-social now when the new issue of Model Railroader arrives! They ain't seen nuthin' yet!
More decoders have arrived, so there will be more engine conversions done on HO engines for my brother's layout this weekend. I have been neglecting my N engine projects, SHAME ON ME! ---jps
I'm working on the addition to the JJJ&E. The foam is in place and most of the track is positioned on the foam to see how it flows. I'm still waiting for some turnouts from Chuck at Feather River. Stay cool and run steam....
Hopefully I'll make some progress with several loco projects I got underway... Top of the list would be to hack off the front end of one of those undec Athearn GP60s I picked up last month and put on a Smokey Valley wide-nose safety cab kit to convert it into a GP60M. I thought about buying an Athearn RTR GP60M to detail and modify to be more accurate to the prototype, but those RTRs are expensive, and I hate stripping paint!
This weekend I hope to glue in the last tunnel. Then I will use woodland scenics undercoat pigment and start painting some of the plaster cloth. This will be were the track lays. Then I will start glueing down the track. Ihave liquid nails for foam will this work to glue down Unitrack on Homasote. Alan
This weekeng I'm hoping to get some more of my decoders installed and tested/programmed. That plus I hope to start working on scratchbuilding a platform for my station.
I'll put a truss bridge in place over the unfinished large lake. Hopefully, I'll also lay more track. If I'd get off my duff I'd have all the track down by now, but there are always other things to tend to. Retirement doesn't mean being retiring.
I might begin some benchwork construction on phase 1. But a prioroty is a more permanent roof repair I have neglected and some trim work in the bedrooms.
Finishing a set of Santa Fe A-B-B-A F-7's. Put chips in them last night and coded. Ran them around the layout a few times. Need to install windshield wipers a lift bars and close couple. These were a set of Stewart F-7 I had laying around, thought I needed to get them running. Actually I forgot I had them (to many dead brain cells) I ran across them 2 weeks ago. Now they are running. These are the blue and yellow freight units. Mike
Well, since I am still waiting for the last of the metal wheel sets to finish The Great Freight Rolling Stock Re-Wheeling Project , I plan on modifying and detailing the Lunde Studios building that arrived two weeks ago. I also have a small horizontal freight crane that has been awaiting installation. Let's see how much I actually get done!
Okay, so it's sunday... but I'm off all week on spring break. So I'm doing trackwork right now. Also tinkering with scenery.
