Saw this in the Railfan & Railroad news page: Genessee & Wyoming has announced its intentions to purchase the assetts of the Utah Railway for $54 million dollars. Heard anything on your end, Slimjim?
They'll have to change the name to Utah and somthingorother. G&W trademark after all! Guess I had better get off my duff and go see the MK5000Cs while the getting is good!
This is what they did to the C&IM! Warning, shades are required! G Elwood's site, I&M page I believe the pic is an SD18, with one of their unique RS1325's behind, and a couple of ex SP SD45's hanging about as well.
Yeah, but could you imagine if they still had F45? And I thought the Tyco paint scheme SPSF came up with was loud! G&W may be the only railroad where the paint scheme is louder than the airhorns on the locomotives!!
Actually with the Railroad being taken over by a conglometate, this could get intresting, Expecally if they cycle the power (hopefully the MK5000C's wont be retired) does GW own much in the way of ALCO's?
I want to say no to Alcos, but I could be wrong. G&W's a pretty good-sized outfit- they operate in Canada, the US, Mexico, Bolivia, and Australia, as well as doing switching duties with their RailLink subsidiary. See here for details on their website. They DO have some pics of Aussie diesels in G&W colors......
