MLE Scale Models is toying around with a couple other collapsible intermodal trailer hitch designs which, like the previous hitch release, resemble prototype hitches. Unlike the previous hitch, which could be used one spine cars or TOFC cars, these hitches would be more specific to spine cars. Here's a couple of snap shots of a pretty rough and basic mock-up of one such design... While it's still early in the design phase and there's bugs yet to be worked out, it is hoped these can be produced in both N and HO scale. Russ
Thanks, Alan! Seems the boards are pretty slow these, which makes it hard to tell if there's any interest out there for these. Russ
Z Scale! Can you make these for Z scale 48' Spine Cars? Dang, if only you could. I have 4 sets of AC Spine cars that could use them. I know of many more Z scalers who'd probably purchase them too. Z scale is soo small, I guess we'll keep what we have and drive on from there! They look great!!!! Hobo Tim
Hobo Tim, Thanks for the inquiry! This is not the first time someone asked about hitches in Z scale. I tend to think that Z scale would be too small to be able to effectively fold and assemble these hitches. That said, if I were to ever actually try to persue it, I would limit it to the previous hitch design (easier to fold) and make them out of brass (also easier to fold). I would need to think about this one more and also bounce it off my CAD guy . Russ
Those look good. And yes, ALL THE BOARDS are slow, I wouldn't gauge its future off the replies. Shocking because normally winter and the holidays are BUSY.
Yes, the boards are slow and it seems like they have been for a while. Perhaps many folks have decided that they've already seen and discussed everything there is to see and discuss Anyway, thanks for the input! Russ
Progress continues on the new hitches. Should have some HO and N scale samples in my possession this week. Russ
