Well there has been alot of talk about FORD trucks here in the local area going down hill fast. CSX runs alot of ford stuff outta louisville. Does anyone know if FORDS problem is gonna effect the RR? Cause if FORD keeps it up they will be gone forever.
Yes, it will affect the RRs that carry Fords traffic. In my area, for example, the effect of Ford's planned slowdown and eventual shutdown of the Norfolk plant can already be seen. 184 was the train that carried the Ford parts to Norfolk... it's been anulled and any traffic moved over to 274, with a 32N run as needed if that traffic gets to heavy... Westbound counterpart 185 still runs to carry the empties and other freight west. The frame flats out of Louisville that go on 23G and sometimes 236 have become fewer and fewer. 236 used to run a hot 86' box in front... it's rarely seen anymore. 277 (loaded bi-levels) out of Crescent was annulled as well, replaced by a run-as-needed 29M.
Its feast or famine on the railroads. Ford is already affecting us in a major way. Trains have been annulled, jobs have been pulled off, and people have been furloughed because of lack of traffic here in Louisville and this is directly related to the auto industry. Louisville is the auto hub for CSX. We deal with mostly auto racks from all over the country. I'm seriously worried about the future of Osborn yard and my job.
Osborne yard is mostly auto racks. You'll see a few mixed trains now and then but i mostly see alot of auto racks. SteveM76 the only thing you could really do is pray that you wont lose your job and hope that you dont lose your job. I just hope Osborne dont die out on us louisville railfans. also hope no one loses there job over it
