It's about 40 degrees in the garage but I started adding the foam that will be needed to start the road and some foreground hills in Glen Frazer. I'll get some photos later after I warm up some and the glue starts drying. The hills will not be as steep as the real Glen Frazer on this side because I don't want to be looking over a big hill. Just a little rise to make the scene look OK.
Nice truck Jerry. Hope you and your family had a great new years. Can't wait to see what 2010 brings to your layout. But I think you need to add some cars to your El Cap. & make the SF chief :tb-biggrin:since that train ran through your local of your layout.
Here's a couple pictures of the short work I did today. Foam board was added to the front, and where the road will be was added and angled up. Road will follow the bush line and track curve, and dip down at the far end, with the bridge over the road at the far end.
I will add wood supports in the front, and then some nice facia to make it look finished like some of the fine layouts we've seen on this site.
And I got a little video shot too......little, because I had to stop at the end of track! LOL http://www.youtube.com/user/sf5700#p/a/u/0/8DtLj3CDlBA
I have some Super Chief cars to add for the 'combined' train, which as you said, runs right through my modeled area. I also have a book showing the very last passenger train the ATSF ran through here, and it is being pulled by FP45 5941 in red/silver and F45 5920 in blue/yellow pin stripe. I think I am going to use those on mine.
Nice truck Jerry, I had a '98 that was totaled when the Riverbank ATSF depot burned along with several other on duty employees cars. Your Hyundai story reminds me of hauling a 4x8 sheet of plywood on the roof of my old 89 Hyundai. When I went over an overpass the wind almost picked up my car!
I had more then one scratch on the top of my Hyundia from doing that too! LOL Finally just went with smaller pieces that I could fit inside the car.
Jerry Thanks. I thought I remembered seeing one but with 287 pages of posts I couldn't find it. Your making good progress.
It's 26 degrees right now, so my progress is going to be slow, quick bursts today. LOL I did want to get the front hill at least started today, so here's the progress so far.
This is all the higher I am going to go on this hill. It will make a nice scenery divider, but you can still sort of look over the top and see the action if you want to. A few trees here and there will add some dimension too. The cracks and gaps will all be filled in later after the forming, and then with the spakling.
