Hmmm...not sure how the "Retro" Southern Belle scheme could be considered patriotic. It sure looks great though!
Oh, um, what color is it? My eyes see Red White and Blue? No? ooops. Is it red yellow and black? (due to a lack of Rods I do have some color vision issues) Edit: A lack of cones. Rods are for night vision. Cones for color vision.
I don't know the color names, but I expect it is the same as the old E-8s for KCS. They were passenger colors. Maybe check the historical society? One of Russell Straw's organizations/clubs has an observation car here in San Antonio that is being restored in those original colors. Maybe some information there?
According to a KCS Press Release, the following is your answer: The heritage paint scheme of vibrant yellow, red and Brunswick green (that appears to be black) is based upon that of the Southern Belle passenger trains that ran on The Kansas City Southern Railway Company (KCSR) between 1940 and 1969.
Thanks Flash and Doug! Still, I think it would look better in Red, White and Blue. Oh well, I'm sure it is pretty the way it is.
