    Hi all,

Doing some research for a possible box car in GM&O green but have no idea of what shade it is. Are there hobby paints that are a match or close to it...or a mixing chart someplace?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

    Joe,
    GOOD NEWS !

I'll see if I can find the GM&O info sheets I had sent to M-T some years ago, and resend the info to you.

A three pack of 50 footers would be great :)

    Also check with:

Can someone provide a link to a green GM&O boxcar? I'm just curious as I don't think I've seen one. I thought they were bright red, but it's not my road. Would like to know more.

I have been told by a GM&O Historical guy that using Pollyscale paints, he uses a 50/50 ratio of Southern Green and Dark Green.

Red Caboose just dd a car in GM&O Green so they might have the exact formula you need.

I checked the RC site-- the coil car, right? The color in the photo almost looks gray to me even though the description says it's green.

With respect to S&R Models posted photos, note how the green looks different in each shot. My hard copy photos in the Research Accumulation show the same thing: in the Morning Sun Guide to Pullman Standard, they look to be a lighter shade than in Classic Freight Cars Volume 8, and the shot of a 40 footer in green in Classic Freight Cars Volume 1 looks the lightest green of all. I attribute some of that to lighting of the original photo and some of that to color shifts of the film itself prior to publication.

The Black or Red schemes would look great on a future release of Z GP35's or GP9's.

Tougher may be the red/maroon scheme used on passenger cars, & E &F units.
Hallmark could run out of heavyweight ornaments fast if MTL could come up with some power for an Abraham Lincoln or Ann Rutledge train!

    GM&O Green

Received this from the GM&O Historical Society:

    "Steven.

If you would like to post this information, it comes from Dave Wagner.
He's our longtime modeling committee member, and co-founder of EndCab
    Models.

For a simple, very close GM&O green, use Scalecoat Northwestern Green
    over a gray primer.

I don't think either GM&O red or black would look great on a GP9!

    One guess why . . .

    Cheers
