SST: I think you are just about there on the photos. Excellent work! Most interesting concrete bridge. Is it from a prototype? Thanks.

It reminds me of the US Hwy 24 bridge at Red Cliff, CO on Tennessee Pass near Belden Canyon, but that one's a steel bridge.

Thanks. You may have to do it again this week as I will be off to Oklahoma City for a train show there. Great stuff this week everybody. The layout shots are cool, and some of the proto shots look cold even. ;)

I've been experimenting with track options for my new layout.I think I'll go with ME c55
and atlas turnouts for the main line, ME c40 for sidings and handlaid c40 for spurs

    Thanks all.

I think what is making my layout photography so difficult for me is the variety of lighting over the layout. Depending upon where the camera is located there may be plenty of light for the light meter but not enough in the background. Or vice-versa. Move the camera and the whole set-up changes.

There are 3 double tube 8' flourescent lights with cool white bulbs over the main layout area which light all but an area to the rear of these photos, where lower ductwork blocks some of the light. Here I use track lighting with flourescent screw-in bulbs. The area where the trestle span is was still a bit dark so I added two small floods (old grow lights) with halogen flood bulbs. A lesser problem was the white walls which are now gone under the backdrops. They seemed to want to wash out everything.

The bridge started as a 3/4"x 1" piece of hardwood for the track base firmly mounted to the benchwork. Then I scroll-cut two sides out of 1/4" poplar and sanded the edges smooth, straight and square. After the two sides were glued in place. I filled in the openings with .015" Plastruct sheet using CA. Any gaps were filled in with additional CA adhesive. The trim along the top and arch is also Plastruct angle.

The concrete bridge is pretty much off the top of my head, so to speak. It's design came out of necessity considering where the lower tracks are and the angle that the upper ones cross. These are things you don't give a whole lot of thought to when you take an HO track plan and endeavor to make it work in N scale. There is a similar concrete bridge near here in Painesville, Ohio which spans the Grand River. Biggest difference is that it is wider and had at least 4 tracks on it at one time when the NYC ran across it. When I was a kid we used to go down to the river bank and up inside the bridge which was hollow. A well known "make out" spot for my generation. Later in the 90's they had to put steel doors on the openings to keep the homeless and druggies out.

Anyone else coming up to OKC for an awesome train show. I plan to be there since it's 45 min away for me. :D Hopefully get some good deals and just enjoy looking at some nice layouts.

WOW Hemi, your photos are absolutely beutiful! It is easy to see why one would want to model that area.

    Thanks, guys!
A couple more oldies but goodies form my Moffat trips...

That coalie I bagged at Tunnel 7? Here's his DPU:

Inspiration Point is just a few iles east of here, which is the more famous view, but this view of an empty coal train in between Upper and Lower Gore Canyon is from across from Tunnel 39:

Another shot at Tunnel 7, a favorite location for me; this time, the M-NYRO and a ragtag lashup of any power they could find (North Yard-Roper, manifest; Denver-SLC):

And the obligatory Byer's Canyon shot:

I'll swing by and say Hi then. Looking forward to meeting more model fellow railroaders.
