Since it looks like I am going to be El Paso bound for 3 more years I decided I could not hold off on going without a layout. This is designed to fit into the garage. It will have a core of 2 x 16'. I will build it on two 2 x 8 modules. I want something where I can run longer trains in a continuous run and do some switching and have a good stage for photographing projects. My intent is to be able to save the core pieces after I retire and use them as a bottom deck branch line on any future layout. I plan on adding a 16 x 1 foot staging yard on the back side with two 18" x 3 end that will have a 15" radius curves into staging. This will make the layout 3 x 19 feet. I will most likely hinge the staging and ends so I can drop them down for storage, making the layout about 28" deep when I store it.

I will have a lumber mill, wood chip processor, brewery, propane dealer and log loading facility. I also plan on adding a 2 foot section of street running. They layout will be my fictional JSR short line and all railroad related structures will be based on MILW road prototypes.

Wow! Sweet! On the lower left hand of your diagram, is that a bridge over a river or what?

Be sure to upload photos as your layout progresses.

    Welcome Home Tony!!!!!!

    Nice to see you back.

Nice looking plan do you have any plans for staging? It looks like you will be switching a lot of cars.

    Very nice!
Just an idea - if your projects are to be vraious locomotives and rolling stock perhaps one of the industries coudl be a "Locomotive Works".
