I grew up 10 miles from this spot. SP crossing of the San Joaquin river at Herndon, CA near Fresno, my hometown.
I saw that, too, but didn't figurer fault lines into the equation. Either that, or if was a government-contracted affair.
I can't explain the apparent dip in the bridges. Both bridges appear to have a dip in the middle, but they are flat in real life. There are no fault lines in the near vicinity that I am aware of. You can check a picture on Railpictures.net for a ground's eye view. http://www.railpictures.net/viewphoto.php?id=144113&nseq=38 That is the first post of a link to a picture that I have done on this site, hope it works. Dave.

I didn't mean a dip. They are displaced horizontally as if a fault were there. Both bridges are displaced in the same east-west location. You would have to look down them longitudinally to tell is they were not straight.
