Thanks guys. I'm going to have my St. Paul building done later tonight..or hmmm this morning. I'll photograph it when I'm done. gpa: On another forum I belong to we are always passing around ideas on city buildings etc. It's so funny cause there's the odd idea that I hold pretty close to myself to keep my idea completely original for when I make it...then someone comes out with that same idea...it's funny cause I'll say...dang.. I have been keeping quiet on that one! hahaha. So in some ways I'm not sure what ideas are really completely unique anymore. Sorry I beat you on your starbucks idea. On that note I have also used pamphlets and business cards for logos. I got a bunch of letter head and brochures from Starbucks and made this little store in the bottom of a Kato building.. It was one of my earlier works so it's a little rough but still you can get very detailed signage from these pamphlets and business cards etc. I'll try and post my finished product a little later! again thanks for the compliments
CMR does indeed have separate window frames. I agree that would make painting the frames quite difficult. Let's hope that they are the same as CMR.
Finally finished... Finished my St. Paul's model.. (took a long time) I didn't use the blue window shade that the CMR kit comes with. I also used a thicker Styrene window film too. I used a card stock to place individual window blinds in each individual window. I also changed the colour a little bit on the back alley walls just a little darker than the facade. I liked the look better.. Here's the full building completed..
more CMR I took this photo as a manual shot..no flash. So it's a bit dark..however I placed a pop can beside it for a scale visual effect. Again here's the base... I'm now working on finishing my Fidelity building as my extra parts came in the mail late last week. You can see the two new parts being added tonight. I've got to still weather this building and add some street and roof details. Cheers, Bob
Bob, Thank you for sharing the photos of your work. Your buildings are beautiful. Well done and thumbs up!
Hutch, Many thanks... I started on finishing my Fedelity building this week. Here's a few upgraded work progress on it. sidewalks.. hand made canopies.. roof details... 2 be continued...
continued... I finished the roof off tonight, added some glass, glued the upper floor sections and roof sections together. I still have to figure out what type of store I want to have on the ground floor, figure out window blinds, signage, people, and other ground level details.... Cheers all Bob
The only draw back I see in these CMR kits is there's no roof details at all. The ones they offer are for the HO kits. I've been using extras from my Extra kitbashes I've done, such as a few bralick building tidbits, all the extra kato and tomix stuff, etc. If someone didn't have the bag or box of extras it take a while to hand make some of the roof stuff. Mind you I guess that's not too bad. Has anyone else on here built any of the CMR kits? Or on that note...has anyone on here recieved their Lunde kits yet? I've heard people who ordered theirs back in November still haven't received them yet. I've not received mine yet and I ordered mine in December. I trust Lynn though it'd be nice to see some people receiving their kits. Cheers guys, Bob
Once again, beautiful work. You are going to convince me to order these before you are done. Hope to see the rest of your photos as you continue!
The Gas Company Building Hi Bob yes I built the Gas Company building posted within this thread earlier. I found it to be quite satisfying model to build and place on a City Scape layout. I will be purchasing more like the Fidelity Bank Building from CMR. I also am on Pre Order for the Lunde Studios building as well due out by this May. I look forward to doing up one of Lynn's creations on that side of their fence. It was interesting also reading about there history in the Industry. We all use many of their fine products. Also on another note that you mentioned the roof detailing. There are things out there if you don't happen to have a bag of extra goodies. Model Tech Studios puts out a fine line of roof details both finished and unfinished. Also Micro Engineering also puts out some roof detailing; but in this authors opinion not as fine as Model Tech. But check them out for your self. Nice work Bob on the Scrapers. I like your use of the gift cards Neat.:thumbs_up:Thanks for sharing.
subwayaz: What an awesome link! Thanks so much for it. I love the alley way clutter, and other N scale details as well. Really fantastic. I love finding these new sites that I've never heard of before. Someone just showed me where you can buy N scale Seagulls now! How exciting is that.. And check out this site the my friend Don found... http://www.traincat2.com/ They sell everything to baseball diamonds.. amazing hey! Anyways here's a few new photos of my latest CMR Completion. Also I have yet to start my Gas and Electric Building... probably this weekend! :^) Just tested the lighting.. eventually I'll black out some of the windows etc. I've not glued this together yet! I'm keeping it to 4 photos.. amazing hey! hahahaha. Anyways I'll probably start my G n E building in the next couple of days. I'll probably just poke around at adding some details, paint etc to some of my current built up buildings. I've got so much work to do to those... yikes!!! Anyways.. cheers and thanks again for the compliments! I absolutely love these buildings. I just hope that Lunde actually does come out with their buildings soon!
On 3/25/09 I received this email from Lunde Studios So anyway, I'm still anxiously awaiting. I hope they look good.
Latest Update I received this email dated 4/30/09 From Lunde Studios. Best wishes to Bob, Lynn and Family.
Hope all goes well for the Lunde family At this point... the Lunde family' well being is more important than getting the kits anytime soon. I have great respect for them and I will continue to be patient as they go through their trying times.
The Lunde Website is down and says not existing... yikes. I hope this is just a temporary thing. I sent in just over 100 dollars in the beginning of December and still haven't received my buildings yet. Has anyone on here received their kits? I also do hope all is well with the Lunde family too. I just hope they are not having financial difficulties. I wonder this as it's 7 months since I paid for my kits, and now their website is down. Could just be a glitch mind you. Crossing my fingers for my 2 Galt Towers.
I got an email that the kits are on the way. Some of my friends have already recieved them. Here's some more photos of my latest project. The Gas and Electric Building... I really love this Gas and Electric Building. I haven't glued the top two floors to the rest of the building as I haven't decided what to do with the arched windows. I did a quick mock up of some of my older style buildings and took some photos of it... More to come...
This is just a mock up of some of my older style buildings....on my stove! continued.. Well that's it for now..too late. The photos always take so much time....But it's all about sharing right! Cheers Bob I love this Gas and Electric Building. I think it's one of my favorites. I'm going to start working on a more modern building next.
This was the base I made for the McDonald's I hand painted Ronny from an N scale Business man in a suite...
