There is a section of the CSX line that parallels I-65 between Shepherdsville and E-town. It looks like a pretty good grade, I watched an autorack climbing it today as I drove by. Anyone familiar with the area know what % that grade is?

Thats Muldraugh hill. It climbs uphill about 4 miles, starting ar Colesburg and ending near Tunnel Hill road just north of E-town. I don't think its much over 1%

Wow. It looks somewhat steeper for some reason. Maybe because the grade starts out below the interstate and ends up quite a bit higher before it curves away.

Talked with one of the engineers on this line (he's a trainboard menber too). He said the grade approaches 2% in places. Sorry for the mistake.

Tunnel Hill averages out to about 2%. It reaches 2.6% in some spots.

I've ridden down I-65 and seen the tracks and part of the hill. I guess it isn't possible to get close to that area since there really aren't any roads.

Most of the hill is pretty remote which is odd seeing as how it is right next to I-65. It is quite beutiful up there though with all the rock cuts. The old tunnel is still there but cannot be seen from the tracks now that they have been realigned. You can still see some of the old bridge supports on some parts of the hill.
