Who doesn’t have at least one Bachman car shop on there layout? They must be one of the most used structure kits around. I personally have used/bashed 5 of these on my small layout. Let’s see some pictures of yours. I have a stack of them on my bench to use up. Just need some ideas.
Since I bought 100 of them, I use them for everything. Here's my linear accelerator, made from the roofs.
A few years ago, a firm named Model Expo decided to get out of model railroading. They had about 3300 of these kits in stock. So they offered them for $1.00 each, with free shipping. I bought 100. I use them for everything! Still have about 20 left. The walls make great docks for my harbor. Etc. Etc. . . I joined them five at a time lengthwise for an aircraft company--sorry, no pictures yet. More later.
I managed to get on the... ...Model Expo exit and have a case of buildings itching for a bash to raise the roof. I have the scratch to start building but there's no itch. Well actually, there's plenty of itch but I'm too busy working so there's no time- but when there is... Mark
Model Expo had less of the engine shop, so they went for $3.50 each, plus shipping. I think I bought about 20 of them. Here are five ganged up, behind the ship. On another five, I used the Car shop roofs for walls--they have identical spacing.
Here's the engine house buildings with car shop roofs as walls. As I mentioned before, the two are interchangeable.
Here is mine as Building Specialties, a steel fabrication shop in San Antonio. Although the business is now gone from this location, the tracks really did enter the building like this. There was another building behind this one. The tracks crossed the street between the two buildings and continued into the second building. I added an office, too. I purchased mine at the same sale Pete did, but I only purchased about five.
Much like the accelerator at Los Alamos, it disappears into the mountain for as long as you wish to believe.
Here is mine.It is not on the layout yet but it is built and awaiting a home.I built is stock right out of the box except for the CSX sign on the front.
It took me a little while to find this, but this skyscraper actually is a sky-hold'er-upper. It, along with the other foam core, paper wrapped buildings hold up the second deck just fine.
