This is an N scale diorama of a famous scene from Mad Max.

The diorama was made by Ross Balderson. More of his work soon.

    Cheers

Ah, the first 5 minutes of 'Mad Max 2', 1981/2 and released in the US as "The Road Warrior"

Any more Mad Max themed dioramas, say, the Gyro-Captain and the snake?

Not true - I'm a Brit and I know who Mad Max is/was - besides, you probably know him better now as 'Mad Mel' Gibson:tb-biggrin:

Those were the days...summer of '80, 16 years old and sneeking into an 'X' (now '18') rated flim :tb-embarrassed:

Some great character names - "The Toecutter", 'The Goose', 'Jonny the Boy', 'The Night Rider' (No, not David Hasselhoff - that was 'Knight Rider' and was 3 years after Mad Max) - and that Car! V8 1973 XB GT Ford Falcon Coupe, which they then go and destroy in 'Mad Max 2' :tb-mad:

watch near the end of the movie.. after his door of the Mack is ripped off.. there's a quick shot of him in the cab, when that mick jagger looking dude drives up beside him, and you can see a crew member hiding down below the seat by mels feet. pretty funny :)

I've often wondered about that. I guess they thought it would work like a mower blade clutch or maybe like a car's air conditioner compressor, which is always driven by the crankshaft, but engaged when the clutch/solenoid is activated.

Anyhoo...great module...but then I'm one of the original US Mad Max movie fans.

    Mad max was Mel Gibson?

Lion King was based on an old African folk tale, but it was first animated by the Japanese; released in this country as Kimba the White Lion. One of my favorite cartoons when I was young, and a prototype for the Disney release right down to the scraggly uncle who wants his throne, regardless of what Disney people may say.

I want to see your Lion King layout, Flash!

    Yep.

'Mad Max' was his second film; his first was 'Tim', another Aussie film. He played a mentally handicapped lad.

'Mad Max' was the film that got him International recognition; 'Mad Max 2/The Road Warrior' was the one that really made Hollywood sit up and take notice.

Up until then I thought he was an Aussie; it transpired he was actually a Yank who grew up 'Down Under'

Some of us 'ugly Americans' can appreciate that scene! I was a huge fan of those movies. Just do me a favor and please don't ruin it by building "Thunderdome" with a N scale Tina Turner included.

    Cheers! Great work!

    A very cool diorama!
I am such a fan of the movies I had to have a dog like Max's.
His was named "Dog". Mine is named "Dot-Dog". You can see the black spot on her back.

Here is a model of "The Interceptor" I built a few years ago entered in a contest.

The model did win first place in model car catagory.

Actually "Tim" was released after Mad Max. His first film was called Summer City, before that he appeared in a TV show called The Sullivans. I'm glad to see I'm not the only N scaler who is huge Mad Max fan. Finding Australian prototype vehicles is pretty tough, more so here in the states. There is a company called Rosco's Models that has a good selection. http://www.aust-n-rail.plann.com.au/rosco.htm
I have done an Interceptor (Pursuit Special to the MM purists) of my own that always draws a comment or two from viewers. It has been dubbed the Miniceptor by they guys on the MM forum.

I had started on the tanker but got side tracked. Now that Athearns has released a Mack R I think it's time to get back to that project.

I'm currently waiting on the arrival of my 1:18 Interceptor that has recently been released.
As far as the real car goes, a second car was built for MM2 for destruction. The blower didn't really work, it just looked really cool. The original car was somewhat restored (read: no longer movie correct) and now resides in the Cars of the Stars Motor Museum in England. There are quite a few replicars out there, currently only one has a fully functioning blower.
