Well boys my money has been lost Kato produced a sample photo.... Charlie did you call in a favor so you could win the bet? Anyway I think it looks fantastic, I am waiting anxiously! So next bet, who will be the first to cut the GG1 in halves to make GG1/2's ?
Using PRR's locomotive classification system half a GG1 would be called a G6 following from the last class of 4-6-0, the G5.
I doubt anyone would be willing to hack up a Kato version but an old Arnold/Rapido one might be a candidate. The one and only “GG1/2” was GG1 4846 that was involved in a wreck. Rather than scrapping it, the damaged portion along with one section of the frame was removed and it was converted to blow snow and ice from the tracks at Pennsy’s primary electric locomotive service facility in Wilmington Delaware
From Kato's web site, the GG1 model is so pretty: Now, what Santa Fe modeler (me) in his right mind would even consider getting one of these...... resist..... resist...... resist...... oh, OK, I give in.
Thanks Ben, but I was referring to a link to the Broadway limited car. The context of the earlier post suggested that there was one...
No cars have been posted but the GG1 makes up the Broadway set. They announced a date for the Daylight and pushed it back 6-8 months. Being mid July I was jovially placing bets on another delay on a name train. Low and behold Kato blew my odds and I lost my money! I'm sure the cars are not to far off. The ship date on the GG1 alone looks to be 8/8/08 if I remember correctly from an earlier post. So hopefully the cars wont be too far behind. T
I don't know for sure, but me thinks its a visibility/AW window since you really cant see towards the rear (or possibly front...). Would make an interesting fishtank in the front lawn. T
