Well, its Friday night in New Zealand so I guess it is time to kick this off. I found some old slides that I had never scanned because they had such poor exposure. With new software I was able to coax something out of them. These are some of the back shops on the Imperial Sugar Refinery NTRAK modules. This is one I had scanned before but I played around with the perspective some. I had cropped the smoke stack out before because it was bowed from the wide angle lens that I used. I was able to straighten it out a little.
During this last week, a friend and I went out to the very edge of the KCS yard in Leesville to to take some photos of an old KCS Southern Belle baggage car that's sitting on an abandoned spur. It's sitting on light track, probably 85 pound rail at the heaviest and to my knowledge has been there since before 1970. At one time it was painted all white and was part of the local MoW train. We got photos of the outside and some of the inside. Click this link to view them. There are several pages. http://s292.photobucket.com/albums/mm18/forum-2/KCS20baggage%20car/
Nice photos and modelling Russell. Ahh, fallen glory Jeff. It would be nice to have that car and build an N scale layout in it! I'm still learning how to use my camera. There are so many setting and I haven't figured out the best for rail fanning my layout yet. But I like this shot I took last week.
Nice pics guys! Russell, your module looks amazing in person. I had no idea of the degree of detailing that was in it until I saw it here in Louisville.
O scale, three rail E-8s at the SAMRA Balcones Heights, Texas (San Antonio) train show. H0 scale module: Deer hunting: More show pictures here.
A pait of FTs! :love2: What company makes the NYC? I thought only Intermountain and Micro Trains made these units? Thanks.
that's the Hallmark xmas ornament for this year! FT, coach, and observation. they still even have the hanger rings in them.
Hi, all, I've put up the major items from NMRA Convention at: NMRA National Convention 2008 pictures from Anaheim - Wed Photo Gallery by atsf_arizona at pbase.com NMRA National Convention 2008 pictures from Anaheim - Thur Photo Gallery by atsf_arizona at pbase.com And National Train Show N scale product pictures at : NMRA National Train Show 2008 Anaheim - N scale products Photo Gallery by atsf_arizona at pbase.com There are more pictures, but these are all the major ones. Kato GG1 - looks like nearly complete model: Intermountain - had test samples of the AC12 Cab Forward there. See gallery above for pictures. Bachmann 44-tonner in N scale: Wheels of Time: samples of the baggage car, photos in gallery above.
Walthers / LifeLike: The 2-8-8-2 DC/DCC/Sound loco was on display, pictures are in the above gallery. As shown in the photo in the PBASE gallery, the connection between loco and tender is a large connection of wires, looks similar to the 0-8-0 connection. Let's hope for everyone's sake, (including Walthers) that this bulkiness and stiffness of those wires does not compromise the appearance or traction of the loco. The Walthers passenger cars are all on display. I have photos of those, will add them on Monday. (sorry, can't get to everything all at once !) Dapol - had a good sized display there, from quick glance, looks like British-profile offerings, from my quick glance, looked like HO? That's all I know, didn't talk to them or to Hornby America, they had nice display there too. Atlas - As Paul Graf has often said, nothing new that hasn't been previously announced or shown at National N Scale Convention in Louisville. Bachmann (observations on the tenders.... and WHY??? the Jackson & Sharpe open air excursion car...made for Disneyland China????) - Yes, the N scale Jackson & Sharpe open air excursion car was there, I'll add that picture on Monday to the PBASE gallery. Bachmann N scale 44-tonner detail shots are in the gallery above. I've shots of the DD40AX as well - was a very early looking pre-production model - will add the DD40AX on Monday. Con-Cor (any hints on N Product???) - Didn't stop and talk to them. Jim Conway was in the booth and the HO scale Aerotrain was there. Model Power - didn't see them, if they were there, I missed the booth Athearn (rolling stock, motive power) - I've couple shots of the improved former MDC Roundhouse Husky Stack that is being released in above gallery, as well as shot of the 40' trailer. Also, check out Harry Wong's NTS pre-show photos as well at: 2008 NMRA National Train Show - Anaheim, CA Photo Gallery by tracktime at pbase.com ---------- Still to come.... a ton of great Layouts there (photos posted most likely tomorrow). The guys from Japan who had the amazing bridges in Chantilly in 2004, are there with two new bridge modules on the NTrak layout (photos tomorrow), here's teaser: The 1986 Western Pacific Z scale layout built by Model Railroader was bought recently (off eBay!) by the Western Pacific Musuem in Portola, Calif - they have that layout on display (photos tomorrow). The huge Gulf and Western Modular HO layout has a modular scene that is literally 30+ feet long, including a intermodal yard and ship. #1 scale railrading layout. A superb Colorado HOn3 layout in the Malcom Furlow style, built in only 7 months, starting in Jan 2008, here's teaser: If any of you in Los Angeles area are reading this and still have time to get to the NTS today on Sunday, go, you won't be disappointed! OK, that's my report for now, have to run to family things for rest of day. Take care and enjoy, all.
Hello all. I've been spending far too much time on a couple of Westerfield truss-rod boxcar kits, but finally got them finished this afternoon. The first is a CB&Q 40' truss rod car with inverted Murphy ends and painted in the pre-1937 scheme. The Southern SU boxcar has as-built Hutchins ends. Jon
I took this photo in Binghamton, NY on July 11, 2008. Saw it parked in a siding on the way to a concert.
