Has anyone heard about a reasonable date for Precision Craft's FA's to be released? I have enjoyed their products in the past, and I assume that the FA's should have a similar quality. Any additional input would be appreciated.

Did you mean to post this in the HO forum? (they have FAs listed for HO)

The only thing PCM has done in N scale is the EMD E7, and the only things in the pipeline are another run of E7s, the 1st run EMD E8, the Alco PA.

    Did you mean Alco PA?

Pinpointing release dates for PCM in Nscale is like pinpointing dates for the Second Coming. Nobody knows and beware of those who claim to know.

I just checked in the book of Revelation in the Bible, and there is no indication as to when Precision Craft is coming out with their new (ho-hum) PA's.

Again, well timed, guys in PC.

I think it might be safe to say that PCM has abandoned N-scale entirely. Lots of "vaporware" and one run of E-units does not inspire any confidence in them or any future products.

FWIW Walthers is saying March. 2009, to be "specific."

I talked with the representative at the DCE in Kentucky and he had a demonstration of the E8s and PAs. Nice looking models. They said they had been working on their own sound, which means they would be getting away from Loksound. A public announcemnet was/is deeply needed, but it seems they are not "dead".

As for a release date. I am not sure, but he said the PAs and E8s would be first and if I am not mistake the pennsy steam would follow. But there is no excuse to why they can't release a hopper.

Samuel Beckett wrote a play called, "Waiting for Godot," which features, on its surface, two characters having a discussion and waiting for someone or something named Godot. I liken this wait for PCM to absurdist literature of the mid-20th century.

If the Santa Fe PA's and E8's have correct details and they do the stainless steel side panels right I might be persuaded.

I threatened on the PCM forum to buy the SOUTHERN E8 if they make them. I am sure they will be nicer than Kato's if they make them.

It remains a threat for the time being. ;)

I do wish Precision Craft the best. I bought a UP E7A & B dirt cheap and they're really nice locomotives.

Well, it looks like the wallet is safe for a while. They rearranged the production runs. I thought for sure the CBQ E8's were in the first run, now they are listed in the second run and still a ways off.

As far as I'm concerned... PCM has blown it big-time. They allowed Kato to bring out a new and improved PA in the same SP Daylight scheme and now... I've got the Kato units... so I won't buy the PCM ones. Had PCM been first to the market, I would have opted to get their SP units with DCC/Sound. Kato's units are the proven 'real deal' and can be upgraded to DCC/Sound.

I met the PCM reps in Kentucky for the DCE convention and was told that the PA's would be available in late fall... which would be November/December... of course the year was not mentioned so it could be in late fall of 2020.

PCM can't possibly make their company work with such poor production scheduling. Companies like Kato, Atlas, Athean etc... 'will eat their lunch'. PCM can't play around in this market... they must perform or die out.

I have 3 PCM GN E7's ... even without the sound units they cost about double the Life Likes. It practically took PCM forever just getting their E7's delivered .. and since then they've fallen flat on their face with the all the other models they have been "promising." PCM hasn't proven yet they are worth the time or the money.

Any HO guys listening in, do BLI/PCM have problems meeting delivery schedules with the dozens of HO models they produce or is it just the N scale ones?

My only recolection in HO was the Santa Fe 2-10-2's when they were announced they were touted to be the late 1940's version with two sand domes, drifting valves, stretched cab and boxpox driver on the main drive. A year later, or thereabouts all the rumours were proved false, came out as the early version, albeit with two sand domes but nothing else. Could not run the 4-8-4 and the 2-10-2 together as they were both from vastly different time periods, which I think was the reason that they were not well recieved by Santa Fe modellers. I know that they did take a long time to get out and all the announcements made by BLI got people offside big time.

I know you would know the difference but I wonder how many others in this country would, I'm sure I could have a pair of SD70m's pulling my string of Athearn reefers at a show and no one would bat an eyelid, I'm sure some think warbonnet F7's still roam the rails of the U.S. though they could pick out the slightest inaccuracy on an Australian layout.

Back O.T. good to see they make mistakes with HO too, but at least they get it out. If they did an early N scale 2-10-2 I'd start modelling another era just to fit it in, I've already got 50's, 70's, 90's and present day, and with a bit of overlap a few other years in between. But the main thing is I don't run it all together, anything on the layout at the same time has to fit in together.
