Does anyone have one of those really old Bachmann GP40s that were way oversized? I think they came in the B&O star paint for one.
Ha! I misread the topic, I thought it was first-generation 'real life' power, which is why I posted IM/Kato stuff! :O
Talking about antiques..I didn't think that many A1Gs would still be around. I picked this old Atlas GP9 used.
Here are my first generation Atlas diesels. This E-8 still runs but the frame has swollen due to the Zamak disease and split the shell at the nose. This is only the shell for my old C-Liner. I kit bashed a Con Cor PA chassis to power it now.
And then these old Geeps with the "too long hoods" stretched to fit over an Alco chassis. I have since put retro frames under both of them to lengthen the truck spacing so they don't look so goofy.
I had several of these oldies-but-not-so-goodies until the great motive power purge a couple of years ago. Next time I'm feeling nostalgic about the good old days, I'll take out my Bachmann F9 from 1979 and take a picture of it for y'all when I'm done pushing it around the layout...:\
That Bachmann F9 from 1979 is the only F9 we've got, same with the FM switchers, RSD15's and others. If they sold back then surely someone could do new versions with 21st century mechanisms and details.
The Penn Central is die cast metal. I've no idea of it's origens. The Santa Fe is a kit bash I did in high school but could not get a mechanism to fit. I have a vague re-collection that I acquired a lot of somebodies stuff that his folks gave him.
This is a great thread! I custom painted this from the old Minitrix lime green and light blue zebra stripr! Who did the research for that terrible paint scheme?! I added Atlas grab irons, MV lens headlight, and custom stacks.
Well, giving this is a N-Scale topic, then my first engine in this scale would be...
