Hi Tony, Welcome to the hobby and to Trainboard. Thanks for your interest. I'm a member of Central Ohio N Trak who is hosting the event. Yes, it is open to the public. Resistration for the weekend is $10 gets you in both days. I think there is a one day $5 at the door day of event fee. I will verify that. See our website for additional info at http://www.centralohiontrak.org/ for a registration form. If you are wanting a T shirt or the dinner Sat night after the show closes to the public try to get it in by the 20th, or the 26th if wanting only the dinner. If you have something you want to run, be sure to bring it as we have clubs that are graciously inviting attendess to run on their club layouts, which is what the weekend is all about! Running trains...If I can answer anymore questions about the event or our club PM me here or email at gunnar_61@sbcglobal.net I'd be happy to answer them Thanks again Brian
We are all set. We will have six members of our group attending. We already have our rooms confirmed for the weekend and we finalized the logistics of transporting the layout out there and back. Half of our layout will not arrive untill very early Saturday morning but we should be up and running by the time the public comes in. Can someone from Central Ohio Ntrak publish a list of the layouts that will be there?
sounds great. here is a listing of the clubs planning to attend Dayton NTrak Pittsburg Lite-Trak Queen City N-Gineers TRAINtrak Burning River NTrak TRAINtrak NV N-Trak CANS see you soon
Thanks for the info and the welcome. I guess this is a bad time to start into a hobby like this with summer just around the corner, but what the heck... I may try to at least stop by the fair grounds and see what it is all about. You know just to kind of get my feet wet. I just may shoot you an email with a few questions about your club. Thanks, Tony
Same here. Greenberg cancelled their summer train show in Pittsburgh due to a venue problem so our next set up won't be until the end of August for the Bedford, PA N Scale Weekend. That's four months of no train running. I just might take up golf!
I know, I know a day late and a dollar short replying...but I have already had my registration in early and I will see you folks in the morning bright and early! Dave
Great job and great show!! This will be my first actual post on Trainboard, but I've been lurking and reading for a while now. I just wanted to thank all the people who made this show possible. I'm part of a multi-scale club in Clarksburg, WV and this is the first large N scale show I've been able to attend. It was an awesome show !! I brought several non-club members with me and everyone was amazed by the layouts. Despite my having car trouble, we all had a great time!! I enjoyed meeting those of you that I got to meet. Everyone was friendly and fun to talk to. Thanks for a great show !!! Lee H. Clarksburg Area Model Railroad Club. Clarksburg, WV
Those of you that missed the show you missed a good one.. 1.Lots of good deals 2.Good food-well no apple pie.. 3.Friendly folk to talk to..This had to be one of the friendliness meets I ever attended. 4.All 'round N Scale fun.. The down side.. I didn't get to meet any of the forum members.. Here is some highlights.. Gotta like this..
Great show! I am looking forward to next year. As one who does not like sauerkraut or german potatoes, I hope the menu is much different. Greg
I agree.. No apple pie is blasphemy.I never been to a show that didn't have apple pie..Nothing like a slice of pie with coffee..I will say the coffee I had was good and fresh though... I also miss the brats..I ended up having my usual 2 hot dogs. I am also looking forward to next year..
Well I did meet Bman on Sunday. Going to check out the Central Ohio club within a month, need to work the timing out with my wife. The pictures above are mostly from the Dayton crew, I got a ton of pictures which will help give me ideas when I build the home layout. I also spent a ton of money, picked up a Kato PA/PB set and a Kato E8/9. A unitrack Double Crossover and also some laser cut trestle bridge wood models. I also enjoyed talking to the Queen City N scalers from Cincy.
The number and size of the N-track setups was impressive. 6 or 7 full layouts. Vendors were well stocked and very friendly. I really enjoyed the trip and was even inspired on a couple of module ideas!!!
One of the guys from Columbus (Giles) said he posted these photos to his Facebook page. Unfortunately, I can't find him in Facebook. If anyone knows him, can you have him contact me? Greg
Hey Lee, if you enjoyed the Ohio event then you might want to keep the weekend of August 28-29, 2009 open. The reason there will be an N Scale Weekend in Bedford, PA. This will probably be a little closer to you. The Bedford, PA event is the original N Scale Week End event and this year will mark its sixth year.
