Thats right NEW Bachmann Spectrum H-4 2-6-6-2s with Vandey tenders! Looks like some additional 2-6-6-2s for me in the near future! Hopefully Bachmann has addressed the issues that plagued the previous run of these locos and that they model an accurate H-4, not an H-5 with a Vandey tender added to it!!!

I already have. Although if they have the actual correct tender then that would be great!

Other than some visual difference's between the H-5's and H-4's besides the fact that the H-5s were never equipped with the Vandy tenders and of course road numbers, Bachmann will be able to keep the exact tooling and such...I just hope there is a little more quality control this time around! The three H-5s I got, one has a lot of "flashing" on plastic pieces, one the entire front smokebox is crooked. I contacted Bachmann about the NEW H-5 I purchased that has the crooked smokebox and was basically infomed there was nothing they could do about it! Well the one thing I can do is look real hard before I purchase another one of their products, which I hope I do not have to do as I do not want to! Bachmann has come a long way but need to go that extra mile so to speak in some areas. I know it is NOT brass, but in this day and age of plastic ready to run quality these issues should not be tolerated. Give us our money's worth Bachmann...were waiting!

Here is a picture of the real C&O H6 followed by a Bachmann with the 16VC tender.

I would be very hard pressed to accept that statement from anyone I paid a considerable amount to for a defective product. Ranks would be climbed and if necessary, the BBB would become involved.

    B mann repair.

I bought a new boiler for $10 for the mallet. I would think they could spring for a new one if that is all they charge. Did you ever get it fixed?

This is exactly what I am afraid of. The H-5 was vastly different than the H-4 and H-6. Driver diameter, engine wheel base, fire box, boiler diameter, cab, sand domes, valve gear, among other items differed. I for one hope that new tooling is used throughout. Bachmann has a bad habit of mixing parts (like putting the boiler and cab of their AT&SF 4-8-4 on a 2-10-4 mechanism) to cut tooling costs. the result is a grossly inacurate model. I hope they don't do the same with the beloved H-4.
