hallo all i have always been a fan of the SANTA FE as one of america's most representative railroads i like particularly the a.t.s.f ZEBRA paint scheme I have seen an ATLAS ho EMD GP 7 road n. 2696 in the ZEBRA paint scheme i would like to know what is the time period that this loco can be ran in this colour scheme? thanks very much in advance regards to all ciao stefano
I don't know about the specific road number, but you can probably run it in that paint scheme from the mid 50s to the mid-60s. BenW Upstate New York
Check this website out: ATSF Diesel Rosters Click "here" under All Time Roster to open it, click on your # series ((2500-2799), then scroll down to 2696. Says 2696 delivered to Santa Fe in zebra stipe 5/51 & then went Warbonnet in '72. Had always thought they were all repainted to B/Y pin stipe in early '60s. But hey it's your RR so run it in what ever time frame you want!
Geep 7 My first loco was this Athearn GP7, 1957 rubberband drive model( has been converted to gear drive over the years), it came in the Zebra stripe paint scheme. I recall seeing the real ones running around for quite a few years after that before they were all repainted.
A bunch of good info on this thread: http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showthread.php?t=94028 I painted 2692 for Phil Olmsted a year or so ago. What a challenge to line all the stripes up!
