Well after years of being in N scale I finally decided to try my hand at putting decals on an engine.I ran across a picture a few months ago of a SP Dash-9 that had been patched with UP logos but also had some panels replaced with UP Dash-9 panels.Well the wheels started turning so I bought a Southern Pacific AC4400 from a friend and found the appropriate Micro-Scale decals.I patched the areas and renumbered the engine then I went a step further and fired up the airbrush with some UP yellow and masked off the panel doors I wanted to do and sprayed it.After drying I applied the decals close to the proper areas. As I said this is my first time I have done decal work and airbrushing but I think it turned out as well as I could have imagined. Here are a few photos.I hope you like it and please dont beat me up for defacing an SP.
Thomas, looks professional! I like how you did both sides also. Very nice!:tb-biggrin: Mike
Very nice...I have a collection of stuff some where to do some similar patch jobs. I can only hope mine come out anywhere close to this one.
T-Bone, that is one helluva job!! Looks excellent, I would never have known that was a first time job! And I agree, UP yellow is a hard color to work with, very nice, my best, Jan
Thanks for all of the comments guy.I hope to do another one like it but with a Conrail unit with some Norfolk Southern door panels.
