I have a Marklin 2-8-2 in CB&Q that I plan to redo in SP&S or GN. I want to blacken the rods and wheels to look more realistic. Micro-Mark sells a product called "Neolube". They say is blackens, and lubricates. It is a graphite/alcohol solution and the alcohol evaporates after you brush it on, leaving the blackened metal. Have any of you used this on Z scale locos? Thanks, John
I haven't used it on Z scale locomotives, but I have used it. If it doesn't work you can wipe it right off. It is supposed to help electrical conductivity as well.
John--you can even use it on track! I used igt to color the crossings on my module and have had no problem with trains running over it. --Steve from the other Phoenix
