It's this weekend in West Chester. I'll be there on Sunday at about 11 AM (opening). Anyone else going to be there?

Did you hear about this train show from Les Nessman of "WKRP in Cincinnati"?

No, actually an Oxford Kiwanis member passed out flyers this Tuesday. I believe he is a member of the Division 7 Central Region of NMRA. I'm not a member of either, but the flyer got back to me.

I'm in West Chester about 3 miles from the Lakota West high school building. My wife and I will be there Saturday for a while. She told me a couple months ago she wants to do scenery and stuff. I'm thinking we need to find an N-Trak group to join.

I'd been thinking about posting the info on the show since I haven't seen much advertising about it. I know there's a few SW Ohio people on the various message boards.

    Here's at least a little info http://www.cincy-div7.org/events.html

Regional shows usually don't take advantage of the forums available to them, because they just don't know how to do it. I'm not advertising for this show, just trying to link up with modelers, as I've recently moved from Albuquerque, NM, to the greater Cincinnati area.

I've been lurking on this board since for a long time. I finally joined in Oct 2007 so I could post (all of 18 times so far!). I don't post much since all my model railroading stuff (except magazines) has been packed in storage for 5 years. Now the kids are moved out and we have a little more space. I broke out my HCD and put the Unitrack back together and actually have played with the engines and cars that I've been slowly collecting for the past few years. I may even get to use that Digitrax Big Boy I bought from Loy's Toys goodness knows how many years ago.

I digress... Welcome to the GCA (Greater Cincinnati Area) I've seen you post many times and just recently noticed that your location had changed to Oxford. I'm about 15 miles SE of you. Almost directly in the path between you and Skipgear's shop in Mason.

Meeting people is tough for me since I work 3rd shift (11PM-7AM) Sat-Wed nights. I'm going to try to stay as long as I can Saturday at the show but I have to sleep sometime for work that night. Maybe I can make it back Sunday after a short nap and catch you there also.

I'll be there all day both Saturday and Sunday.

I will be bouncing between the Tri-State N-trak club and our our hobby shop table (HobbyTown USA).

The show is a very good show with quite a few layouts. Usually an O scale tinplate, G scale, G scale live steam, a couple HO groups, Tri-State N-trak, Queen City Ngineers, a trolly layout and of course vendors. When I talked to the organizers a couple weeks ago, they were just about sold out of space.

It was a great show today. Since they expanded the school building it was even bigger than last year. I saw Skipgear (actually Don pointed him out since I'd never seen him before) though I didn't get to meet him. He was bopping back and forth between the layout and the store which were right next to each other.

There seemed to be a fair number of people buying at the various booths and the crowds were pretty good - not horribly crowded but a lot of people. We were there from about 12:30 until 3:30 or so. I had to go and get some sleep for work tonight.

I'll be there tomorrow. I'll be wearing a Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad shirt. If you spot me, stop me and introduce yourself.

Sorry I missed you. A customer asked for a demo of the Walthers Y-3 w/sound so I got mine out to put on the layout. Next thing I know, one of the club members is building a train for it. Then I had to help fix a bad spot on a module so the train could run.

BTW - Today reinforced my opinion that the Walthers Y-3 is the best sounding steam loco to date. I could plainly hear the loco on the layout, while standing in the store area and it wasn't the tippical annoying tinny sound. Even with the crowd and background noise, the loco still sounded clean and clear. It pulled 45 cars with out struggle most of the day without a problem.

I used to go to the show when I lived in KY. A fantastic event. Wish there were something like that nearby here. Frank

Yeah, that's when I was there. I saw/heard the Y-3. My first live experience with a non-Lionel sound locomotive. I loved the look and sound. I don't think there's much room for it on my HCD though. ;) A fellow (maybe it was the customer)was taking video and trying to get the sound recorded - he was getting frustrated, people kept talking to him so he didn't think he got a clear take.

Another very good show. N scale was well represented in both layouts and vendors. As a hobbyshop, we accomplished our main goal, let people know that we are out there. We handed out 200+ fliers to new customers that didn't know we existed.

I spent today letting a young boy run my trains on the N-trak layout while I covered the tables for the store. He did quite well with my son's I&O lashup and about 60 cars. Late in the day I pulled out my B&O S-1a to pull a troop train about the layout to keep something running on the rails while the show wound down.

I got to meet Pete and put a face to the name as well as Kit and Catfan. Nice to meet you guys!

Our little store layout ran flawlessly all weekend, not one derailment or stall out of either loco I ran on it. I swapped between a 44T and my Bachmann 0-6-0 detailed to be a B&O D-30.

For once I walked away from a show without buying anything. I think I have finally found all the out of production items that I ever hope to find so unless it is a crazy good bargain, the vendor tables didn't do much for me. The one person I was hoping would be there, Wisemodel Services, was not there. He usually has some interesting brass castings.

    WELL SHOOT!!!!
We left the house Friday afternoon and took our time going up I-71 to Cincinnati. Didn't take a laptop or even look at the 'net over the weekend. Sure wish I had known who was gonna be there at Lakota. I was in the back of the gym, with two tables selling some of my Special-Run Kadee/MTL car collection. Two table with KD/MTL on one end and a bunch of Athearn/Walthers/Intermountain/Atlas HO on the other end. I hope some of you guys got some of those $10.00 Sp-Runs I was selling. I was the guy selling the plastic bottles full of COAL. I sold several.
I got my "BUY" of the show, when a local club member sold me a Con-Cor 2-10-2 for $100.00. Almost new, little or NO run time. I'm still happy 'bout that deal.

The next show in the area is the DAYTON SHOW November 7th & 8th. Trying to get the BOSS(read Wife) to go,but it's an uphill battle. The Dayton Show is not one to miss!!

It was, to me, a surprisingly LARGE show.

Sorry I didn't get back to skipgear or look for others--I took ill suddenly.

    Pete,
Sorry you had to cut things short. Make an attempt in two weeks to head toward Dayton. That show is usually larger than the Div. 7 show and has a few more interesting layouts that don't make it down this way.

If anyone goes to the Dayton Show at Hara Arena the 7th or 8th, stop by the DLH Locomotive Works tables and say hey. I'll be there both days helping watch the tables.

It was good to meet Tony today and put a face to a name. I was also hoping to meet Pete, but things happen. Hope you get feeling better soon Pete.
