Anyone planning to attend the Daly City Great Train Expo this weekend at the Cow Palace?

I think I'm going to attend Saturday around noon until whenever. How about setting up a TrainBoard meet and greet? I see a growing number of Bay Area members online and think we could have a great time.

This will be my first time to the Cow Palace, so any good ideas for a meeting spot?

    Mark,

I'm planning on going Sunday morning (Laurel has rifle shooting on Saturday). At the Cow Palace, there's usually the entry hall area, with lots of tables set up, where it is easy to meet.

We (The BAZ BoyZ) will be there representing the Z-Bend Track modular standard, DCC too. Please stop by our layout and say Hi! We are friendly to all scales. You are even welcome to say the token "I Can't See It" that everyone else says when they stand there looking at Z Scale trains! :D

Curn will be bringing his Nn3 layout to display Saturday.

I know of at least 5 other Trainboard members that will be there, representing NMRA, Tri City Model Engineers, and Peninsula N Trak.

Our members are also N, HO, T, and HO scale modelers too.

    Hi Mark and others,

I'll be there Saturday, probably around the same time as you (noonish). For ID, I'll be wearing (or carrying) a bright orange SF Giants jacket. Hope to see you there.

I cant wait to see some more BAZ Boyz action.:thumbs_up:

Actually, while I'm thinking about it.. I've had my eye out for 8 FVM Z scale metal wheel sets. I didn't spot any last show, but if anyone attending has 8 of them to spare, or knows which table I might find a 12 pack at, thats probably my top priority for this show. :)

Thanks for the ID Phil. Depending on the weather, I'll either be in a black coat (no rain) or a brown hoodie that says Lucasfilm in white across the front (rain).

Well I just returned form the show. It was a great time, though unfortunately I didn't spot Phil or Robert. Rick actually made an apperance when I was about half way around the vendor tables, so I spent the rest of the time browsing with him. We then went over and said hi to Jeff with the Z-Bend guys and saw the AC-12 on the Peninsula N Scale layout. I wasn't able to spot any of the items I hoped to find and toward the end, I made a rush to try and find something to pick up, but ultimately decided I'd better wait for one of the things I really want instead of getting something just for the sake of it.

I was oh so close to picking up a couple old con-cor superliners to start off a fun project, but my gut kept telling me to wait on that one.

The show is still open tomorrow, if anyone is still contemplating going, you wont regret it if you do. :)

It was great seeing you again, Mark.

The layouts were fun, as always, but I must say that the number of vendors seemed down from the last few GTEs around the Bay. I hope that isn't an ongoing trend, but just circumstance for this particular schedule.

I was there standing around the BAZ exhibit most of the time, but found a few moments to pick up an old Roundhouse Sierra Railroad Boxcar that I didn't have in my collection. Jeff, Matt and Jim of BAZ were very hospitable and even let me run a few trains on their modules. They even let me run two of them into each other and didn't throw me out of there. I brought my Z scale case layout which is still a work in progress.

Jeff had his AZL Daylight E7s and passenger consist running laps around the Layout.

There were quite a few good examples of weathered rolling stock around the modules that I will try to reverse engineer.

And my little case layout it still awaiting some scenery work.

I was planning on going, and even loaded up my truck Friday after work, but felt run down. Saturday morning I got up at 5 and started getting ready, but had a sore throat and by 6 decided to stay home.

Today I'm down and out, so I will miss this show. From what I understand, it's the last Cow Palace show, with next year's show moving to Richmond... A fine and upstanding neighborhood, if you are an entouraged arms dealer!

Sorry I missed everyone. I was only there for a couple of hours, as we had some family pet problems to deal with. Next time (in Richmond, Pleasanton, wherever).
