I use a spray bomb. I just bought some Krylon Matte Finish at Wal Mart.

SInce seeing the Monster rail on You Tube using this Krylon product that's what I've used ever since. cheap and much larger than Testor brand. Still on the same can almost one year later.

I have that opinion and I was using a spray bomb. I don't think I have heard this complaint from those using a bottle. I, too, spray the flat coat now but I am using Testor's Acryl Flat Finish. I think it is better than the spray bomb "Dullcote."

I'm with you Flash. I use Testors acrylic flat(Airbrushed). It works great! I have not had very good luck with rattle cans. Not enough control.

Alright guys. I've been looking at the site for Krylon's products, and the only things listed as being crystal clear all say they are acrylic based. Are those the ones that other people have talked about using?

It's too bad that they don't make a flat version of Pledge with Future Finish. :) It is just high gloss clear acrylic finish though.

Although I have tried 3 other matte clear finishes , was not happy when one brand didn't dry right and bubbled , all I was covering was acrylic paint as I always have used, this made me mad.
So I am back to Testors dull coat for my N-Scale rolling stock. and N-Scale buidings
The dullcoat just seems to have a better finished look to me.
I do use the cheaper alternative (HAIRSPRAY) in sealing landscaping like trees and rock face ect...
My advice to anyone getting started with this stage in the hobby is although a cheap price ia always good in some circumstances it is not good in all circumstances.
always test a product so you feel comfortable useing it. like I pick up a can of dull coat shake it good and know what to expect. Brand X I use with caution now.
    Have a great day !

    Krylon Acrylic Crystal Clear
    Clear
    Flat

    Protective, Non-Yellowing Clear Finish
53530 is the number above the UPC symbol

Krylon offers Gloss, Matte, and Flat of this product. I have all 3 and do not know if there are more. The can says Acrylic in very faint light blue text.
