I stumbled across this blog today, I would love to see more of this thing. Anyone recognize it? http://modelrailroading.wordpress.c...milwaukee-road-electric-territory-at-averymt/
I recognize that post, as I was the one who wrote it. The gentleman who owns that layout lives in the Northern part of San Francisco Bay. He has a small group of friends in the area who helps him work on the layout, but that was the same reaction I heard from other people that I met on the layout tour; "Why hasn't this guy has had his layout featured in MR?" It's nice to have found such a hidden gem.
Wow! That's absolutely amazing! His bridge construction techniques are excellent. He really captures the style of the Milwaukees interesting bridge architecture. Exceptionally realistic. Only thing that is missing, because of the era, is a fleet of Litte Joes to haul the freight upgrade.
Surely there is a way to get this into a publication such as MR! I hope he, or an associate, can be convinced to submit something. Boxcab E50
Wonderful! I've just taken a look of the layout you link on the first post... It's amazing! The only thing that in my opinion is missing, is some weathering to the environment... I do understand that weathering a brass model would seriously decrease its sale valure, but I would rather focus my effort on weathering the environment on the lay out!
Another thing I noticed is the Harlowton Depot in the last picture. Meaning this layout represents Avery-Harlow. I would love to see what features he chose to model like Eagle Nest tunnel, Lombard, Deer Lodge, Butte etc.
Outstanding! I'm thrilled to see such a wonderful Milwaukee Road layout! I had thought it was Bill Barker's layout up in Montana until I read the rest of the posts in this thread. Well done. Thanks so much for sharing the link! I've shared the link on the Milwaukee Modeler's forum as well.
