THe stores in the Nashville area have had a huge clearance on HO & N scale accessory items. Woodland Scenics, DPM buildings, Model Power electrics, Bachmann cars, track, locos, etc. Get them while you can. Clearance means up to 60% off, no coupon.

We don’t have any HobbyLobbys here, but I didn’t know they had train stuff. I’ve been to a few in OK, but I never saw modeltrains.
Do all the HobbyLobbys carry train stuff? I’ll be in WV after next week, I wonder if I should make an attempt to find one while I’m there..

60% Neat. The hobby lobby closest to me is slim pickings, well I guess at least they have some paint and Evergreen styrene so I shouldn't say much... There is one in south Omaha but haven't made it to explore.

I have two about the same distance away. Both carry a fair selection of scenery and accessories but no rolling stock or engines.
I wonder why they are having a clearance sale. That usually means the store doesn't intend to carry that item anymore.

Hobby Lobby seems to have these clearance sales every year, and they have been announced here before. I have bought lots of scenery stuff over the years at those prices, so its the second best reason to go.

First reason? Compared to LHS, way more fabulous babes in the place!

    Are they online?
I can't find anything beyond a store finder type link.

Ummm... please pardon me for perhaps being insensitive...

I know that they folks in Nashville just went though some terrible flooding and can't help but think that this may be a Hobby-Lobby localized sell-off due to the flooding in Nashville. I'm all for helping them out... but... is it possible that these are stores which were flooded and they are selling off flood damaged merchandise?

Hello TB. Info on Hobby Lobby. I work for a company in Georgia that does floor work for Hobby Lobby. All Hobby Lobby stores will no longer be selling trains related items. Get there fast. This weekend I worked on 2 stores and they were pretty much sold out. If you can catch the manager in a good mood and you buy a lot of stuff, you may be able to talk them down more on the discount. The discount right now is 40%. If you see an item that is train related and not marked down, let them know and they should drop the price. I hate to see them drop there train stuff. I bought 8 trains sets at different stores that someone had stole the engines out of the train sets that they sell and payed $10.00 for each set. Also a general idea, they sell paints and supplies. If you goto there website and register there as a customer, each week they will e-mail you a coupon that will get you 40% off of a single item at full price. So if you live close to one you can go each week and buy you glue, paint and what you need. Happy RailRoading everyone.

If this is the case... it doesn't reflect very well on model trains in general... regardless of the scale being modeled.
National chain stores which deal in hobby items are one of the last vestiges of mass marketing for the model railroad hobby in general. Once upon a time the national toystores such as Toys 'r us, Lionel Playworld and KB Toys were active promotors of the model railroad hobby. Apart from going out of business (Lionel Playworld & KB Toys) over the past 20 years whatever national or regional toy & hobby stores that remain have virtually banished model trains from their shelves until the Christmas holiday season. So if Hobby Lobby is basically dropping model trains... then only HobbyTown remains as a national chain that can promote the hobby. Perhaps there are others... but I can't think of any. Now the only ways to promote the hobby will be from local brick and mortar shops... which I'm sure are struggling in the current economy... and the internet 'e-tailers'.

Thanks, but by the sounds of it, there may not be anything left by the time I get there.

Something tells me when you don't go is when they cut the prices. May be good for one last look next week (closed on sunday)

Some items in scarce supply (WS items, DPM buildings, extra track). Good supply of N-HO-O trainsets. An aisle over could be good deal on Bachmann HO-N engines.

The misinformation news make it seem like the whole city was flooded when it depends how close you were to a creek, river, etc. HL is not a small store. I agree can't be good for the hobby as a whole with few national chains that have train items. Seems a lot of buyers on this & other forums bought HL train sets to get started.

I bought (2) kits from them and will head back later on this week to finish them off. I hope the start upgrading some of their supplies and get Atlas rolling freight cars and other Fox Valley Models, Blma Models, and maybe Kato along side Bachmann?
