Working on a new oNeTrak module. 90 degree 3 ft corner. Modeling a similar scene to the NS CSX crossing in downtown Charlotte, NC. Modeling this facility to a degree. NS is the curved dual track. CSX is the single crossing left to right.
Looks like fun. Should creat a nice scenic devider from either side of the plant to. It looks like you guys are using all wood frame and subroadbed, kind of heavy isn't it? Have you considered a plywood frame with a foam subroadbed? Tons lighter and easier to handle for set up and take down.
Ryan, great module idea. Is the crossing operational? And what about the eight lane highway over the crossing? Public relation mode on: Highway bridge tutorial Another picture of the elevator
module John All frames come from previous projects. I get lots of lumber free from crate knock downs at work. Foam would be lighter but have to buy that. I dont have a table saw to cut the ply into repeatable square pieces. I could rig a jig for the circular saw but just have never tried that. I have a suburban as one of my work vehicles so size and weight have not been issues for transport for me. And as far as moving it around at home I just deal with it. We only set up three or four times a year so that is also something I just deal with for those few times. berNd Yes the highway is on the list to look at. Depends on how much I can scratch vs buy. That side looks great to. Great modeling potential. I have the same issues when it come to buying anything. I dig for every scrap I can use to. Keep us posted.
I love that track alignment--great selection for a corner module. Looks like you will also have one end of the CSX live also? I'll have to check out some more of your progress. Jamie
I was scrolling thru the thread looking at pics without reading and stopped because I recognize this. As we go over the bridge, my 6 year old often points out the "covered hoppers" that almost always sit there.
progress Here is the building for the ADM module with some paint on it. Not much time lately for modeling but I do get in a touch here and there. Now to figure out a wash for the mortar lines.
I see you are using PVC pipe for legs, which is something I have been experimenting with of late (way cheaper than wood), how are you doing the adjustable feet? Looks great so far!! my best, Jan
I drilled the caps and epoxied the threaded sleeve to the cap. Has worked so far. Here is the building after a few washes and the windows put in.
Little more work on the module. Got the 2nd bridge support roughed out. Just have to file and file and file it.
Here is where the warehouse building goes. The track will be "sunk" into the ground simulating abandoned spur. Got some more GP30s and the high hoods came in from Mark4 Designs.
Bridge gets its final I beams on the bottom. The truck doors on the corrugated building go in. The brick building gets a coat of paint along with the bridge girders. The corrugated building sprouts a second truck bay. I have Micro Engineering doors for these openings.
