IRCModelersClub Z Scale Here is a link to the Intermountain second release of 4 bay hoppers with round hatches this time and some very nice colour schemes in this group. the preorder dead line for the first group of cars has been extended to Oct 15th . From the Intermountain e-newsletter Z SCALE PRODUCT RELEASES After stunning the model railroad market with our announcement two months ago of a new Z scale freight car, we have been taking Advance Reservations for the first release of the Canadian prototype Cylindrical Grain Hopper – Trough Hatch Version. The reservations have been gratifying, but it is obvious not everyone has received the news yet. Therefore, we are extending the reservations on these first releases until October 15. In this month’s product release information we have included an Advance Reservation announcement for the second release of this popular freight car. This version will be the Round Hatch Version, which was used primarily for chemicals and other dry products. cheerz Garth
There all CP but ya know. . . they ARE different !!! Placed a request for 2. (would be more but not my roads). .
You can pre order them at your dealer, if he carries Intermountain. Anthony i. e. has the same preorder system as it´s used with MTL Runner Packs. Mattias
I've written to them several times, just again today, but I've heard nothing back at all from them. If I hear anything I'll post up here. John Ztrains.com | Z Scale (1:220) Model Railroading
These cars are nice, and I hope you modern folks buy them by the carload, so Intermountain stays in the Z business. Do you think they will do more in Z, with some of their other carstyles?
I've also tried to contact them without success. I had great communication with them when these were first announced..
Makes you wonder what happened as this is what they were showing at NMRA Milwaukee last summer. ...don
I understood that they had shelved the project due to lack of demand, but that came from an outside source. I hope they make it to market, a worthy new release. Joe
My insider information says not so the project is still on track with he last work on pieces needed for the finished model going out this week. plus there is a second body style in the works already, a modern mechanical reefer which should hit the market later this year. cheerz Garth
Just last week I called IM and talked with them. The word I got is that the project is still a 'go' so with that said all we can do is sit back and wait for product release info like we have done so many times with MTL and AZL. It's nothing new......this waiting game. Patience grass hoppers, patience.
The Intermountain web site has the telephone numbers quite visible but I do not find them very e-mail friendly but certainly easy to get to by phone and easy to talk to. There is another body style in the works and it is a mechanical reefer with the refer unit in a bay on the end of the car. I do not know when that is due but have seen some preliminary work on that car as far back as Houston Great Train show last November.
The list price of 26.95 that appears on the link page, that can't be for all 6 road numbers can it? That is either for one unit or a misprint. Can anyone confirm? If that is the correct price for 6, I'll take 6 in each scheme provided I don't have to reserve. Ken
The website only says 6 numbers, of course 26.95 each. To Loren. One of my favourite singers, Tom Petty sings: The waiting...is the hardest part. Greetings Mattias
That would be $27 each, because the car has custom folded etched brass parts, expensive injection molded body, finescale paint and lettering, and they have to purchase another manufacturers trucks and couplers, so $27 each seems like a bargain to me! If they really do come out I will purchase a dozen for the stripper alone! This is a body style I really like! I did not pre-order any, because I hate it when there is more than a few weeks between announcements and releases. I'm a "Just Surprise Me" with a sudden release kind of guy, and I can enjoy my impulse purchase rather than stress over if I will live long enough to see the release.
looking at he page it sure looks like 26.95 each to me and for the CN rainbow that is a bargain in my books. There is certainly lots to choose from in the first 2 releases. I am sure there are some paint schemes that it might be wise to reserve with your favourite pusher as they may go fast when they hit the shelf. I am sure there will be lots to choose from off your retailers web site or store shelf and probably about $22.90 each as a street price. No need to buy as a 4 pack and no shortage of individual cars. cheerz Garth
Looking at all of these, I want a 6 pack of all styles. Especially the Sask. Potash cars. I'm not all that fussy on the CN rainbow cars. There's just something about them that I don't like. Perhaps too much colour. I don't know. But I already have one made by another manufacture so I might get one more to even the count. Ken
