Hello members, I thought i should introduce myself. My name is Matt and im 15 years old. Ive lurked on these forums for awhile and then joined. I made a whopping 1 post and never came back, until now that is. I recognize some usernames here from some other forums im on. No layout just yet, but i have been stockpiling locomotives and rolling stock. Alittle about me? Well, im a sophmore in high school. I play football, indoor and outdoor track. Im a tight end and outside linebacker in football, and a middle distance runner in track. The layout im designing is a proto-freelanced regional carrier. The Adirondack and Northern is a bridge line based on the Delaware and Hudson and Canadian Pacific. The main goods carried on the A&N are logs, lumber, but in almost every train are flatcars with equipment for the loggers. Locomotives are a mix of heavy duty 6 axles like SD60s and AC4400s, and smaller 4 axles like Geeps and Alcos. Yes, my railroad is pretty rich for its size  Ive been working alittle bit with weathering, ill show some pictures later. Have a good one! Matt
Hi Matt, I model Freelance East Region to Southwest Way compressed. :tb-biggrin:as well, welcome aboard. Well take your time enjoy the ride to running trains, and look forward to seeing pictures of your progress  Glen
Thanks for the welcoming responses! I didnt get a chance to mention it in my first post, but im always looking for AC4400s in CP Rail paint
Welcome to Trainboard!:tb-biggrin: Seems like more of the younger crowd is getting into model railroading. I myself am 16 and model the San Diego & Arizona Eastern in N scale. I've kitbashed several steam engines and scratchbuilt recreations of depots and other SD&AE structures. Here's some of what I'm doing if you're curious: My kitbashed model of SP T-31 4-6-0 #2353, the engine @ Campo's Pacific Southwest Railroad Museum. ...and my SD&AE Jacumba layout. The whole thing is only 2x4 feet. I'd like to see what you've been modeling!
It's good to see younger people getting into model railroading. I started when I was 12. Of course, now I'm... older. Here's a pic (I hope) of the real 2353 I took last Thanksgiving:
I somehow managed to miss this thread, but Hello from this soon to be 19yr old. I started when I was old enough to walk. Carried around a little Bachmann 4-4-0 until I dropped it... Still have the now kit-form engine though. As of now, I've moved into an HO version of the City of Madison Port Authority in Madison Indiana, with a little halp from some regional carrier backing.
Welcome to Trainboard. It's good to see younger modelers in the hobby. Like it or not, you are the future of this hobby.
Welcome to Trainboard from a fellow Matt I am modeling Southern Pacific's Modoc Line as SP's subsidiary the Modoc Northern. Additionally I also have a part time job with the Yreka Western Railroad here in town. Looking forward to seeing some of your stuff!
Welcome Welcome to Trainboard, Matt... It's refreshing to see young people entering the relm of model railroading. The chatter always is that this is a dying hobby, frequented mostly by older guys (and girls)... But this is sweet evidence that replicating the rails is still alive. Now in my sixties, I started in my mid-teens just like you. It's been a great life-long affair. Again, welcome aboard...!
